ok look...I didnt mind much when 1 barbarian galley dump 6 barbarian horse archers next to my capitol. I detroyed them tho suffered greivous infrastructure damage.
But when deep in my territory, without even a galley nearby and nowhere near
any land border 8 barbarians 3 swordsmen and 5 axemen appear in 1 turn...well that's cheating. There has to be a lgical way for them to be there and there is none. to get there by land they would have had to pass 1 of 2 armies and 1 of 2 cities of mine - only 2 approaches due to mountains blocking them - impassible mountains. C'mon this is a great game get your AI under control please.
I will probalby lose at least 1 city a ton of infrastucture and maybe the game, by an unfair advantage(and 6 units on a galley is unfair also) - If I can't do this in a game the AI can't fairs fair. Hope to hear a reasonable response on this one and no "explanation" of why the AI can do this is already unacceptable.

while barbarians have cities again now, like in civ2, they come out of nowhere - "the fog of war" - as the manual and one of the game hints say, a barbarian can come from a square that you checked last turn.

there was no fog of war it was deep in my territory with no way there except past my armies and cities. Fog of war needs to be out of line of sight - this square was 2 tiles from 1 city and 3 tiles from another - on a hill.
and 6 units on 1 galley - c'mon

This has happened to me to twice. They almost took Roma from me. It really sucks cuz I was getting really productive and conquering Alexander when out of nowhere NINE horsearchers come with no galleys anywhere and start running amok. It also happened to one of my outer cities except it was with swordsmen and axemen. Also, for my outer city like what happened to you they would of had to cross impassable mountains or pass one of my two sentry points at the entrance of the mountains and neither of them was touched.

I had the same - barbarians appear out of nothing close to my cities in the end game - I think thats no bug, thats intention. They wanted to simulate the barbarian invasion that leads to the fall of rome i guess. But it could have been implemented far better. A huge barbarian invasion army coming from North - east for example ...

yeah, and are the other civs experiencing this -cause it was over all of europe not just where I am. What was an excellent scenario is ruined by illogical gameplay written for the AI then.

It's not cheating nor AI. It is a scripted event that the scenario designer (who is a fan, not an employee of Firaxis) wanted to happen. Basically it spawns barbarians between turns 120 and 175. There are quite a few other events that you can see if you look in the script (some of them only happen depending on what side you play).
