I love(hate) the game, and have played literally hundreds of maps.
I've noticed a bug however(I think), and it has taken some of the fun out of it.
Normally when the production box is filled up a single unit is produced, right? Well 3 times i have caught the AI producing 2 instead of one. I would bet it happens a lot, but these are the only times i can be pretty positive about.
1st time-a civ had a single city on my continent, size 3, coastal, all desert squares. At some point he declares war and along with boatloads of cavalry here and there, he also attacked with 2 longbowmen from that one city. Not that suspicious at first, but he kept doing it. 2 longbows every 5 turns, with no boats going in or out.
2nd time- I had an enemy city completely surrounded after my initial assault failed to take it. I did, however, manage to kill off all the crusaders. I used lots of trebuchets so i got to see all his defenders cycle through as i bombarded them down. The city had the Knights Templar wonder so while i built up to finish taking the city, my surrounding units were attacked by 2(two) crusaders(presumably produced by the wonder, when it should have only been one). Before the city was taken, my units were attacked again by another pair of crusaders.
3rd- My most recent, and most compelling(or disheartening) example was on a tiny map, about 15 turns into a match(long enough to build 2 warriors and start on a third). I found my closest opponents capital in the first direction i began exploring.(He was REALLY close by) So i parked that warrior on a mountain that was conveniently in just the right spot where i could see his city and still be outside his border. A couple more turns go by, and i see his size 3 city become a size 1, and not one, but two(2) settlers with warrior escorts come out of the city and head in opposite directions.
This bug is kinda discouraging. I mean, i like a challenge, but double production just seems unfair. Has anyone else seen this? or maybe have an explanation?
