On the Game we are playing now,

" Civ II, SP, AI, Deity, Rageing Hoardes, Seven Civs "

After the Senate signed a peace treaty with the Greeks behind our backs one
of our military units got trapped in a Greek city's squares and could not get out.
After the usual warnings the unit was removed to our home city by the AI, no problem.
Now a far away island we were just about to put the Chinese out of their misery.
We go to start one of the last skirmishes on the last Chinese city,
but we can not find the Vet. Archer that was holding them in check
from a mountain top one square away from the the Chinese City center!!!!
The AI had apparenrly sent the archer home at the same time the Unit on the
Greek's turf was removed!!!!!
We were at war with the Chinese the whole time so what is going on?
We went back to the auto saves and reloaded to double check but
it did the same thing again.

We also noticed that the AI on the same turn failed to give our SSC
another person even though it was celebrateing We love the Consul day
and there was food, no unhappy people
and of the 15 citizens only 5 were content & one Elvis.
So to recap size 15 SSC in celebrate mode in Republic having just received a
POPulation increase on the last turn has 9 Happys 5 contents & one Elvis
with food to spare being added to the food box. When we hit the key to
end the turn and start the next, a dialogue box comes up that says
the " We love you Day " is being Cancelled in the SSC.
WE had another City go up a point in Population from normal food production that same turn.

Are these both something to do with the Riot Factor?

We only have 10 cities with 112 Citizens in 540 A.D.

As far as the unit disappearing, did you find it in another city? In other words, you're sure it was moved and not killed? If it was moved, is there a Greek city near where he was, or perhaps one that is there that you don't know about? I've had that happen before.

The missing population increase seems odd. If the city was already in WLTLD and you still met the requirments to add a person, it should have happened.

Dropping out of WLTLD can happen very easily when your Civ is growing. After it dropped out of WLTLD was there an unhappy person there? If so, it sounds like the riot factor, just like you said.

Duke of Marlbrough,

you asked,

1. " As far as the unit disappearing, did you find it in another city?"

Yes, the Vet. Archer on the mountain beside the Chinese city was removed and placed in the nearby (7-8 squares away) city of ours on the same Island.

2. " If it was moved, is there a Greek city near where he was, or
perhaps one that is there that you don't know about?"
We have Marco Polo and checked , all the greek cities are accounted for and
discovered on the map , and they are on the otherside of the world from this Island.

3. "After it dropped out of WLTLD was there an unhappy person there? "

Yes, after getting the WLTLD cancel dialogue box & going to the SSC's city screen a previously content citizen was now unhappy.

Unit:
After the unit was moved, you are still listed as being at War with the Chinese?

If so I have no clue what happened. Especially if you already reloaded and it happened again.

City:
It seems as though the riot factor was the cause of the city going into disorder then. If you watch them enough, you can even tell which cities will become more unhappy during each growth spurt.

As far as the city not getting the person when it should have, again, I am at a loss.

Do you have saves a couple of turns before it happened? If so and you want to share them I'll look and see if it happens in my game also and we can eliminate that as a possibility. Quick question, are you on a Mac or PC? I'm PC, so not sure if that will be an issue. So if you want to try that, give me the stats on what I'm looking for (unit location, city location, what turn(s) this happened on, etc.) and I'll try it out.
