Just wondering, is there a study on this case? How do AIs spend their gold?

Why am I asking this? Well, basically I am in a Monarch game where every AI has 0 gold(or very little gold) in their vault but earning like 200++gpt(I checked with the 999 trick) everytime I want to trade something with them. This is hurting me cause I can only sell so much for a tech(which the whole world doesn't know yet) for like "15 gold" and they never give in to a gpt deal even though I've not messed up my reputation.

So I am really wondering, how do AIs spend their gold? Even if they DO really trade tech with each other, there should be an AI with TONES of gold in their vault, but the last time I check on my game, every AI has almost nil gold in their vault.

They often spend almost all their gold in research during the Ancient era and Middle Ages. The will usually have more gold available for trade by the industrial age.

Their gold goes to rushing things and researching.

I usually have little or no gold in my treasury untill the industrial ages when I have enough income to put some in the treasury.

I believe the "999 trick" shows their gross income: how much they're making before corruption, science, maintenance and everything else is subtracted. So that's a huge overestimation of how much free cash they create every turn.

I've noticed that if the AI is using a government with pop rush, they never stockpile cash, they spend it all on science.

When trading with another civ, click on the AI-civ's gold-per-turn button and when it asks you the amount, just write 999 into it. It automatically changes into the amount of gold the civ in question is making per turn. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but I believe it is supposed to prevent you from asking more gold from the AI that it can possibly afford...

atomicgopher, ummm, me too, i've almost 0 gold most of the time and thus that's where my urge of trading for gold from the AIs come from...
