is it normal that my enemies don´t fight each other?
it´s rather boring to be the only one in war all the time.

is possible to change a value in the editor to make ´em fight?
that would be a great improvement for me...

I see AIs fighting each other to death in my games very often. In one game the French eliminated 4 other Civs on the same continent they are on, and in another game the French moved about 50 swordman across my terriroty in order to get to the Babylonians on the other side, even though the French didn't have a right of passage with me.

That's one thing I like about Civ3. They actually kill each other and make military alliance with the AI worthwhile. :p

hmm...
or do i perhaps have that prob because i play on the lower
difficulty levels most times?

(i don´t like hard work :) )

are we playing the same game?

:crazyeyes

i´ve played about 15 games with 8 to 16 civs and the cpu NEVER fought anyone but ME. they even never ever declare war on me. it´s always me who starts attacking because of being bored. furthermore the AI never allies against me. though they should to stand a chance.

yes, putting all the civs on full agression would be a solution but then they would kill you pretty fast.

a couple of suggestions:

1. play against agressive civs (e.g. germans, japanese, aztects)

2. maybe conquest victories aren't enabled. I'm guessing that if they were the AI might be more agressive.

to 1: i play against all civs most times

to 2: often conquest is the only enabled victory

so..
that can´t be the solution... :(

i think there must be some variable that gets set at the beginning of the game regarding the tendency of the AI civs to go to war during the specific game. I've had several games where the only wars were those started by me, and several others where the AI can't stop fighting each other throughout the game. My latest game on Regent has featured an ongoing world war from about 700 AD to current (1300 AD). AI civs are constantly making alliances with one another and with me against different civs. I've gotten Nationalism and have started to make MPPs with various civs to further engulf the world in war. Haven't noticed any difference between difficulty settings, just that sometimes the game is war filled, other times it's very peaceful...

I beleive you can adjust the aggression levels of different civ leaders using the mod file. Otherwise, playing on higher difficulty levels always seems to make for an abundance of civs perfectly willing to declare war on contact...

The best thing about Civ3 in my opinion is that civs actually do fight each other to death!

In my current game, I was allied with the Russians and Egyptians against the English and Americans. I mostly took care of England, while the Egyptians and Russians partioned America! :D It really did feel like a world war being fought on multiple theaters of operations!

Note: After the end of that war, Egypt got to powerful, so I allied with Russians, Chinese and Aztecs and together we destroyed Egypt in 20 turns! Just when the war was over, Russia who got a large chunk of Egypt, declared war on me! So I am now allied with China, Aztecs and Greeks against Russia! Looks like they are going to be destroyed soon! :D :D

I find the AIs rarely fight (amongst each other or against me) in my games too, unless I coax them into it, and I usually play on Deity.

The AI is VERY aggressive, even on lower levels. They seem to fight wars just for the sake of fighting. When I sign MPPs, my allies are a large help in defeating the 'evil' civilization I am trying to conquer. Once, I was after the English because they had too much oil. I got the Japanese against them, and they ended up 2 of their 3 oil resources! Be careful what you wish for. Try turning on all victory conditions, especially if you're playing on the lower levels. It's pretty hard to lose on Cheiftain or Warlord anyway.

Hmm, I think there are two versions of civ3 out there. One where the AI is plain peacefull (the version I have) and one where they can't stop fighting.
Strange!

Certainly they do fight each other. In several games I have found another civ has been destroyed before I even had the chance to meet them!

You're more likely to get a war with Islands or Continents on a "small" world. If you get a continent to yourself and the others are sharing then they will start fighting each other.

On the other hand with a "huge" world with only 1 other civ I have played an entire game without firing a shot.
