Hey,

The English declared independence before me, so I sent some troops and destroyed them. Now it says that there are about 80 turns left, but even though they no longer exist, they still lead at the score chart. How is it really calculated? I couldn't figure it out, their score is 3 times bigger, yet it's been a while and I gained a whole lot of liberty bells and have twice more cities, but my score barely went up! They have been beaten and they are about to WIN the game?!?!

Another thing... Has anyone noticed that after playing around 20 minutes, the game starts to slow down? It was in CIV 4 as well. For example, unloading goods from the trade wagon to the city takes up to 2 seconds, unit centering, switching to city view - everything becomes slower! I have to close the game and reopen it so it would play smoothly again. Does it happen to anyone else as well?

All I could figure out is that the score is based on Founding Fathers and other non-tangible stuff.

I could be way off the mark tho.

Must admit I've never noticed the game slowing down over time.

The Score is Affected by FF (a lot), Land and (i think) Population. It is also - negatively - affected by the tax rate.
I don't think he's going to win the game, ig he's dead... Never tried so can not be 100% sure.

There is some slowdown, possible because of increased memory useage... tho it takes a lot more than 20 minutes for me.
