First please excuse my poor english.
I'm playing a huge map on deity level, the year is 1030AD and already 4 civs (including me) are researching rocketry and computers. Probably their spaceships are due to arrive in 30-40 turns (arround 1350-1400) and i don't know how to prevent this. My question is if the sabotage appollo program or spaceships components method is good (war is not a option at this time... and i want to finish the game by conquest). Any suggestion ?
Thanks.

Well, what is your tech level? If you are an 3 or 4 techs behind (especially if you had applied 1.17 patch), your best bet is to start a new game. For one, you have almost no chance winning a war at this time -- think about it, if they can build the spaceship, chances are they will be able to build the ICBM also. How much chance do you think you have if you are hit by a ICBM in the capital.

Don't do that! Try at least. With this looser's attitude, you learn slower.

Never surrender!

Don't know whether subtaging the appollo works or not. But it'll be extremely difficult to do the subtage, and by difficult, I mean that you have to be extremely rich and still the probability of success is small.

Given your description, there is not too much you can do. Perhaps you can try to begin a world war between AIs. I mean, go to war with a distant AI, preferably in another continent. Then bribe other AIs into war with that poor civ. Then you can sit down and pray that the world war would divert the AIs' production from spaceship.

But how could you let AIs lead you so much? And if you don't want to win by space race, disable it at the beginning.

At the moment i earn 1500 gold per turn and i have around 10,000 cash (at a population over 110 milion). This was a very fast game, probably because of AI stealing techs, i don't know. All the time i had a lead of 2-3 techs(except page 2) but the AI never fall behind to much. Right now i stopped my research and this seems to slow them to (the year is 1200 AD and only 2 civs have appolo program scheduled in 5-7 turns). All i ask is for 30 turns to finish my army and apply the 1 turn/civ tactic.
The war against a civ on another continent is good, i already wipe greeks out (not me ofcourse, their 4 neighboors) but i want something to conquest not baren land...
About the ICBM, that's not a problem i think because in the same turn i get a right of passage, use the railroads to deploy my army (and for that i need at least a ratio of 2.5 modern armor vs. mech infantry) and finish a entire civ.

Like they said, the best bet is to trigger a world war. But first create a mutual protection pact then start a war, cuz it's easier.

I agree, you need to provoke a war. It's probably too late to capture another civ's capitol (to burn the enemy spaceship), but if you set the world on fire by starting WWIII, you can sit back and let them AI fight while you dedicate yourself to making spaceship components. Or, you can try to go for a UN victory. I don't see a conquest victory as being feasible.

I disagree with this. It should be possible to send a large enough surprise attack against the enemy capital to destroy their spaceship. As for starting a world war, I don't think that will work. In my experience, the AIs are not capable of making decisive strikes against each other. Also , I've found that they will simply continue building their spaceship components, even if they are being overrun.

Wow how did you get to Modern Age in 1030 AD?
I reach modern age in 1800/1900's in Regent?
dang.

research go faster on deity because the AI as big advantage like production cost reduce of 60% so they build town faster librairie faster. and everything faster:)

it'S like if there was 15 Ai playing at chieftain level and you playing at deity.

I restarted from 800AD an i will try to build my army faster (my 15 towns sized 32-33 are nice but better to have mines all around...).
Thats good, take capital=destroy spaceship but a i play 1.07f, must have 1.17 ? And another question. If i press launch button (with my spaceship ready) its all over (not after 20 years like in civ2)?
Thanks, this is a really nice game....
