Let me start off by syaing Civ IV is an awesome game and has held my attn for several games and will do so for many more... However in Civ III Conquests when you attack a city with an air unit and there is another one defending said city ... the units would 'battle' it out. In Civ IV it would seem that the attacking aircraft is just shot down/damaged if intercepted ... I expected this to be addressed in a patch or something but not yet. Please bring this back Fraxis!!

you mean seeing the fighters actualy exchange shots basicly like the ground units do, i like the idea, of course the animations would have to be pretty fancy considering that the planes always move around unlike archers or other units

I believe the CivIII system was that the two units would quickly calculate the combat results as in a normal fight, but only one round of animation would be shown with the loser crashing and the winner landing (albeit damaged). In the current system, the attacking unit pretty much just suffers a random amount of damage.
