AK08, The Isle of Forgotten Toys

Got it.

Rasputin is taking a spin in the Duesenberg right now but will be back tonight.

So little happened, it's difficult to report quoth the Admiral.

Learned Astronomy started Chemistry. Picked up another lux from the Germans and renewed the Korean deal for furs. Started a cathedral in Amsterdam and cut and planted forests in the tundra. To get the most out of our research budget we are going to need everybody working so the happy gas will pay for itself.

Everybody in the world started Universal Suffrage so whenever anybody called to demand something paid them off as I could just see the cavalry pouring across the borders.

We have no leverage with anything as we are a full age out of it and as near as I can tell there are no optional techs left to research for some trade bait.

It is going to be a long hard slog to the Admiral's Marines and Paras.

Do we want to become a Republic? The added commerce might be worth it and will get us to Communism that much faster. Fuggedaboutit, Just checked the unit support costs and they will kill us.

bede - just played. Starting to think the monk lives in an airplane hanger with his car collection
therat - up
pied piper - on deck
ak - Thinking of better ways to get the toys. AK9 appears to be a step in the right direction

OT - just as something absolutely silly - an SG where workers must be automated? the human could use road to, automate this city only, automate clear wetlands, etc, but never just single mine, road or irrigate commands. Or do I just need to get out in the real world more like my wife tells me to? Regent?

@ Bede, awaiting, with baited breath, your set on LK's centennial. I'm waiting for the cities to go down and the warmongering to begin. I don't want to hamstring it too much.

save

Pre-Turn
swapped some to scientists to get chemistry in 3 iso 4

at turn 3 we get chemistry
can't get any other tech, trade salt to germany for 24gpt
enables us to increase science to 70% to get physics in 9
nothing else happened, a couple of universities were completed and reduced tech turns
physics is in next turn, meanwhile some started ToE last turn.
we will have to beeline to communism and then steal our way back into the game

goz and the gang did that one on both Emperor and Demi-god. So how about an Emperor game with automated workers and governors on?

pied piper - up
ak - pondering. this involves all digits. please be as quiet as possible.

So how about an Emperor game with automated workers and governors on?
I did this pre-clive1 on regent. My best effort was with Mongols, with a 6245 score (knew I shoulda submitted that puppy, but I didn't think it would stand). Regicide appears to be the path to the toys and their use. Don't worry about the smoke, just igor stoking the coals...

ot - is anyone interested in doing a beta test on an AK scenario? Once I get the editor figured out, I'd like to do a napolenoic wars with the WWII rules. BTW, if someone shows up at your door, just tell them I'm harmless and say you heard me mumbling something about eight ball.

:bump: AK?

That game with automated workers sounds fun to me. If I have time, I might join.

lurker's comment: I would call that variant the "Chicago Streets and Sanitation patronage" variant. Those guys got it made. Sit in a truck, eat donuts, get paid, life's good....

In this variant the worker will irrigate before mining. Why? Wouldn't you rather use a hoe rather than a pick?

I think you also should put governor's on too. Emphasize whatever you want these guys should get paid to do something too you know. Let them do their freakin' jobs!!! You have big picture things to attend to. Delegate man delegate!!

lurker's comment: we are the robots.... *distant cling clang heard through the din of the factory*
why not make the game with an IND civ? or maybe even an Agricultural one?.
i say choose the Maya or somesuch.
and that fully automated game should be nice.

if and when... sign me up.

an afterthought - turn on the option to let gov choose build for us? or would that be pushing it?
it would surely give the AI some advantages.

No I think you do the builds. Remember you're a big picture guy. You're concerned about construction projects, military, economy, diplomacy, corruption, technological advances. My God man isn't that enough?

However I think the governor choses what citizens to work (or not if he puts in a clown). You can tell him what to emphasize. IE growth or production
I want in too. I think the variant should only allow a space victory too.
AK should I do this as Who1? Maybe Who2 could be a Zulu game. Man, I've got some serious mental issues....
Any other thoughts?

@ whomp, set it up. my plate is full. My one brain cell has distinct memories of surrounding the AI on a mountain using those rules and scoring around 6200 on regent. Do it as Abe or Ugly. me likes efficiency or easy rax. Zulu okay too if in you ins got your heart set on it. Schedule clears in 2 days..

Interesting, and that shouldn't be too hard (I like messing around with the editor).

Warning: Potentially dangerous material ahead. May cause head implosion to some idiots. Please proceed with caution.

Spoiler :
Just open the Napoleonic scenario, go to File-->Import, then check rules, but hit the plus sign on rules and uncheck civilizations. Then choose the WWII Pacific scenario. Go to Scenario-->Scenario Properties, then paste this into "Scenario Search Folders":

Conquests\Conquests\Napoleonic Europe;..\..\Conquests\Conquests\WWII in the Pacific

And hit apply. Then exit the scenario properties menu and hit Save As (make sure you do that and not Save, or you'd erase the Napoleonic Europe scenario) and it should work fine (go to CivContent in C3C to play it). The only problem is that the cities would have the wrong units in them (for example, Paris has 1 combat engineer, 2 jet fighters, and Napoleon). But now that I think about it, if you tweaked the scenario a bit more (like changing civs), you could have an okay WWII Europe scenario.

Maybe I could test a bit when my schedule gets better.

Oh, and also, I just realized, I think I'm up, so got it. I'll try to find time to play it sometime.

sorry, played 2 huge SG's last night, tonight RL D&D, will have it up by tomorrow night
God I miss those days. Ginger for me, no doubt:love:.

OK I'll will post a "worker variant" on Saturday. Cinco de Mayo, 70 degree weather and the start of 16" softball plus a Cubs game tomorrow spells trouble for my brain cells till Saturday.

If there are no resounding objections, I'm going to declare this one dead in the water. It's all viper's fault with the choice of the start. This seems to be an excercise in futillity with our current lands and the results of the early wars. If everyone wants to play on, I'm good to go.

Dead in the water is right, let's move on.
