Alerts for "started a thread" for old threads

From time to time I get an alert that someone "started a new thread" or "created the resource" in one of the forums/categories I'm watching for new threads only, that aren't new at all.

An example from today:

That thread was made on the 20th of February, but the main post was edited 3 minutes before this alert. I assume that the thread was temporarily hidden because it needed moderator approval, possibly because it contains an URL (to this site though). It happens a few time per day for me, while I only watch 4 forum threads and 1 resource category. It's quite confusing to see the same post/mod being newly created a few times per week. And it kind of defeats the purpose of having alerts for new threads only, because I now get alerts for threads/resources I don't watch.

Similarly, I've seen mods disappear, where the link from my browser history suddenly gave a "Oops! We ran into some problems" message. Usually that is solved in short time, but this also confused me when it happened the first few times. It happened to a mod of my own as well last week.

If possible, it would be nice to still show the old content if the new content is waiting for approval, instead of letting it vanish for a while.

If my theory is correct, that is some damn quick moderation btw!

I don't think this is a feature Xenforo supports.

Thanks :D, this is an automatical setting though.
Normally this also should not bother most people, as this issue only happens if a thread starter edits a post (as Leif pointed out), and the post is sent to automatic moderation because the user is new and something else triggers this, such as a link in a post. When users are here long enough and have enough posts, then this should not anymore happen to them.

I'll just stick to the image of super fast moderators 😉

What you write about new users might explain some of those alerts I got. There were quite some mods published by new users the last month. Thanks for the explanation.
