After about a decade of deliberation, some bloke has finally decided to bring us the classic duel that many have longed for since that infamous Alien-skull scene in Predator 2.

I am a huge fan of both franchises, and I look forward to this film. I just hope they don't screw up (like the way they screwed up Alien ressurection).

Thoughts?

Somehow, I don't believe this will come to be a good movie. I think they will come up with a very silly reason for them to battle - if they come with a reason at all - and that they will try to make the confrontation very balanced, hence no caracther will fear the other... and the fear factor is a major part of the interest of those two monsters.

Sure, I also am a fan of both, specially aliens, which I got the whole series in DVD (and I agree that ressurrection was bullsh*t), but I simply can't see anything good coming out of this...

Let's hope they can get someone who is skilled to direct, like, I don't know, Bryan Singer or Tim Burton, so there can be at least a chance of it coming to be a at least passable movie.

Regards :).

I just loved the first Alien and Predator movies. Their sequels were (how can I say this mildly?) less...
I hope this will turn out to be a good movie but I have my doubts.

I loved Alien and I really liked Predator also. I actually read the book Alien before the movie came out.

I hope it is somewhat entertaining, I will definately have to see it!!

@Fred

They have a reason for them to battle, which you can find in the behind the scenes footage on the website.

Keep in mind that the director also directed Resident Evil. :p

Whether it turns out good or not, i'm still going to see it.

Not a shot at Miko (as if I'd ever do that :mischief:) and a reply to Fred, but it doesn't matter if the movie is good. Remember the Hulk? That movie started it's hype campaign a full 2 months AT LEAST before the movie was released in theatres. Enough hype and it doesn't matter if it is any good or not. People will see it. Dude Where's My Car deserves a sequel? Well people saw the first one enough to make a sequel profitable apparently. ANOTHER Batman movie? Who will play him this go round? We are truly a race of :sheep:.

I read that it was looking not so good.

I actually like all of the Alien movies. The first two were exceptional, and I think the thrid one is way underrated. The fourth had some cool scenes, and was overall pretty good.

The second Predator STUNK.

Right on! :goodjob:

Tim Burton directing AvP? That's, .... scary! Man. . .that would be something to see.

I wouldn't mind seeing James Cameron direct it. Hell, even Ridley Scott.

I can see a Predator crash landing on one of the Alien controlled worlds, and having to fight his way out. . .

Predator would have a tough time against the Aliens. I see his main strengths as his stealth, his hand to hand combat prowess, and his heat vision. The Aliens do not show up on infrared, and they have acid blood that would make close quarters combat suicide. Stealth will help him against one Alien at a time, but once the hive is alerted, he's baby food. There go his three advantages.

He'd need some heavy duty hardware to stand a chance, otherwise, he better hope Ripley is around.

Of course you forget that the Aliens and the Predators can't speak English, so the marines wil probably be involved. Or else we would have a lot of subtitles. ;)

Word on the street: It's set on Earth in the not too distant future, sadly that means NO colonial marines, perhaps the coolest soldiers of all time. :p
