I think it should be like in test of time, where if you choose 6 civs, it would be normal, but if you choose 7 civs, it wouuld include aliens.

it should be a scenario or sumthing, because using aliens would make it too hard/easy and change the game heaps so the scores would be wacked.

Yeah but if you had a check box you would be able to choose "no aliens". They'd be cool though, especially their emissaryies in the diplomacy screen. One would look like a pig with two butts, one would look like Obi wan Kenobi, and one would be something else wierd. It'd be funny to see them get mad, and other things.

It was unfair in TOT how the aliens on Alpha Centauri were unmolested by other races since 4000BC... I wish we could be the aliens!

If they make the game even more customizable than in Civ2 then people will probably be posting very good and very playable game mods within weeks of the game release.
Plus I would bet MONEY
that if aliens are not implemented in the initial release, there will be an expansion pack that includes some sort of alien scendario somewhere down the road.

Despite common beliefs were aliens too. In TOT you don't think that when you land on that planet that you weren't an alien?
Anyway i think it would be cool to have a BOX to check for aliens or not..I would love them to capture on of my cities then be able to steal there tech with my inferior diplomats. Tehe

Has anyone here read the "In the Balance" series by Harry Turtledove? Its science fiction where at the start of WW2 alieans invade earth.
The aliens are shocked to discover how quickly man has advanced since their scouts reported man being in the middle ages. You find out gradually that the aliens adapt and evolve MUCH slower than humans and are only more advanced because they are so much older.
I have no idea where I was going with this.

Hey, I got an idea!!!
How about say, you get to the very late stage in the game and an advance triggers alien contact? Say the SETI program, and the first nation to build the wonder automatically gets an allience with an alien nation that is on another map (but it would be like TOT on a space map), and then aliens would randomly visit other civs, but the alien nation can't start attacking until it has made contact with all civs.
Just say that no one knows if the SETI program has been built until they either build it themselved or get visited by aliens. At this stage of the game the barbarians could just dissapear and be replaced by the alien nation which the leader has its own diplomacy screen and everything!!! Or at that stage of the game the alien nation could even be played by a human!
That would be wicked!
Oh, and I got another idea! The alien nation could just be a mirror image of the earth nation all rolled up to one (on a seperate map), so the only real way to avoid the end of the world is to ally with each other and have total world peace to kill the alien nation!!!
This is the best thaught I have had all my life!!!

An intersting twist...Just when things started looking good this horrid bunch of aliens pop up and make you play the game an extra hour or two. It would allow you to use all those final units like the stealth fighter more.
