Although I am getting little tired of Communitas map script, I would like to give YnAEMP another shot but I don't see many impressions about it, even after recent fix.
Over the past few months I've played almost exclusively with the CBP and YnAEMP together. I run with a custom version of the 'Greatest Earth Map', placing most Civs that would otherwise be 1 tile off the coast actually on the coast (Inca), or with certain civs with a strong naval history on to the coast; so in my version of the map Spain starts on the coast next to Gibraltar. Moreover, I have re positioned Polynesia to what is modern day Australia, and in the name of balance certain Civs have larger potential coastlines (Russia).
I typically play with the max number of Civs I can, so 22, with all the city states I can, on either immortal or deity. I will often ensure that the America's are empty, or will have just 1 civ.
Late game slow down aside, the AI is often very competitive and difficult to play against; and is consequently a lot of fun. The primary issue I have is the projection of power.
IMO biggest balance issue for larger maps is the inability of me to quickly get from one side of the world to the other, or to directly deploy in say, Indonesian territory. Moreover the AI doesn't always (if ever) seem to recognise naval power.
I've forgotten where I'm going with this, but try YnAEMP - it's a lot of fun!
Oh yeah, and unless you start with a natural advantage (on an island - Japan, England, Polynesia, Celts), it's... interesting.
Another point; the EU Civs rarely seem to want to colonise the America's. Some games it happens, some games it doesn't. I'd love to see Civs going crazy for land/resource grab later (but not always earlier) in the game.
If I find myself playing YnAEMP later on today or tomorrow, I'll post some screen shots using the IGE.
Oh yeah, and sometimes there are only a limited number of strategic resources, which really puts the pressure on.
