So for some reason ever since installing this mod, i load up and enable the mods and start a game with huge map and i could put the player count down to like 6 instead of 12 or whatever default for huge map size is. and everytime i load a game up all the civilizations start right next to each other. this does not happen if i play without mods but the whole reason i started playing again is beacuse i saw arumba and quill18 playing with these mods and it made the game look fun again. any ideas whats going on?

This is definitely not right. I vaguely remember seeing a similar report in the bugs thread with a screenshot from someone else, but I cannot find it now. Have you tried a different/standard map script (such as Continents Plus) or a smaller map size? Are you using any other mods?

Only using the mods that came with the full installer for the community balance patch, i did a fresh install of the game so would i still need to clear the cache? i was trying to use the earth map, did not try any other maps beacuse i got frustrated and had to sleep for work anyways last night

Hahaha! This is funny!

You were right. I tried the Earth map and I got the same result - everyone crammed in 1 area. Apparently there is something wrong with the Earth map. Try a different map script, such as ContinentsPlus. I find the Communitas map the best, but I got a CTD last time when I tried the huge size.

I always play with Communitas huge size and never got CTD because of map script.

Really? I started getting CTDs right after configuring the map with Communitas / huge size from CBP version 9/9. When I was fiddling with the number of civs and CSs, I sometimes got through. There were 2 other people reporting similar problems, but when I asked them for details, they never replied.

With how many civs / CSs do you usually play? I usually increase the number of AI civs to around 18 and decrease the number of CSs to 15.

Anyway, I started a fun game with ContinentsPlus. When I finish it I will update to the newest version of CBP and try Communitas again.

I usually played with 22 civs and 44 CS, however I dropped number of Civs down to 16-18 and 32-36 CS, because there isn't enough place for everyone (Before turn 100 a lot of Civs are wiped out or AI doesn't know when to stop with expansion and invades yours or other Civs territory with Settlers - it's quite annoying behavior, which sparks additional wars, that could have been avoided otherwise) .

Although I am getting little tired of Communitas map script, I would like to give YnAEMP another shot but I don't see many impressions about it, even after recent fix.

Is Continent Plus balanced enough for CBP ? I also have bumped upon this map script https://docs.google.com/document/d/16N_wB43A8WI363EFRLfHGIufXQsNqcifcHATuWEB7oU/edit?pli=1, it seems rather intriguing, I will give it a shoot next time I start a new game.

Continents plus is not as bad on huge settings, still only like 35 turns in and ive met half the civs but surprisingly no city states.

Continenets and pangea plus places all city-states on islands to give more expansionroom for players, didn't you know that? :D

There's a way to disable that feature by editing the map script. It's very easy to do. There is a tutorial on these forums somewhere which, honestly, I found via Google. I'll post the link when I get to the computer if I don't forget to (: .

Or you could just play normal continents/Pangaea? I mean moving the city-states out is the main feature of that map.

There's more to it than just that. The plus maps have better and more consistent mountain chains, add archipelagos that actually exist besides main landmasses, and are just prettier overall (can't argue with as strong of an argument as the last one).

If you want more room to expand, you can always lower the number of starting civs, anyway.

Over the past few months I've played almost exclusively with the CBP and YnAEMP together. I run with a custom version of the 'Greatest Earth Map', placing most Civs that would otherwise be 1 tile off the coast actually on the coast (Inca), or with certain civs with a strong naval history on to the coast; so in my version of the map Spain starts on the coast next to Gibraltar. Moreover, I have re positioned Polynesia to what is modern day Australia, and in the name of balance certain Civs have larger potential coastlines (Russia).

I typically play with the max number of Civs I can, so 22, with all the city states I can, on either immortal or deity. I will often ensure that the America's are empty, or will have just 1 civ.

Late game slow down aside, the AI is often very competitive and difficult to play against; and is consequently a lot of fun. The primary issue I have is the projection of power.

IMO biggest balance issue for larger maps is the inability of me to quickly get from one side of the world to the other, or to directly deploy in say, Indonesian territory. Moreover the AI doesn't always (if ever) seem to recognise naval power.

I've forgotten where I'm going with this, but try YnAEMP - it's a lot of fun!

Oh yeah, and unless you start with a natural advantage (on an island - Japan, England, Polynesia, Celts), it's... interesting.

Another point; the EU Civs rarely seem to want to colonise the America's. Some games it happens, some games it doesn't. I'd love to see Civs going crazy for land/resource grab later (but not always earlier) in the game.

If I find myself playing YnAEMP later on today or tomorrow, I'll post some screen shots using the IGE.

Oh yeah, and sometimes there are only a limited number of strategic resources, which really puts the pressure on.

Looks like im a little late to the party, but thats ok. I too have been experiencing the issue which appears to only occur on the YNAEMP but only when locations are randomized. I wonder if a change makes the mod work better from the standpoint that obviously TSL works fine (except for Chinas current CTD.. D: ..). Ive even saved YNAEMP as a blank maptype, no go.

Truth be told it may be a lost cause. I cant remember a giant map thats reached endgame w/o crashes, but whether thats my computer or a limitation with the engine hard to say.

It also happens every single time on a Custom Map.

Yes, apparently there is a problem with the starting locations (undefined?) for some maps.
