All I want to do is use a custom map....

So I want, as I did in Civ IV, to play vs. the AI on harder settings but on a customized map that gives me a leg up on the competition.

So I created a map in World Builder, set the start position, added some gold and a few extra units.

Tried to play and just selected my custom map... but it starts me at a random place with standard units.

So then I went through the mod guide (skimmed, admittedly.) I created a blank mod, named it, added my map to the folder, then ran built it in ModBuddy - build reported successful.

Activate the mod in game... still the same default, random start.

What am I missing?

Try the "load scenario" option that shows up after you load the map.
