So I just discovered the greatest Civ 4 feature EVER: Alt-M reminder pop-ups. I'll share in case I'm not the only one who didn't know about these.
I am the most ADHD Civ player ever. I'll starve a city into oblivion because I'll forget to shift worked tiles back onto food after I accelerated a Wonder build, or blissfully create five Settlers in a row before realizing that a rally point I'd set a thousand years before was sending them all to the other side of the map. Then I learned I could hit Alt-M, enter some reminder text, and tell the game how many turns to wait before a helpful little reminder window pops up containing my message to myself.
I use it for EVERYTHING. At the beginning, I set up 10-turn beeps pointing me to cities that have just lost their +1 unhappy from whipping. I have recursive reminders set at 20 and 50 turns with things like "Are you exploring enough?", "Plan your next few techs", "Mooch gold from Darius," or "Is Shaka dead yet?"
If even one person who reads this didn't know about Alt-M, my work here is done. ;-)
