Alternate Flags?

ok, i am new here......
i am trying to alter the look of my flags for civ 2,
I am opening the Cities.gif file and altering the flags at the bottom of the page
but then when i try to use them in the game the game crashes, WTH?!
i remember there was a rule that you had to keep 2 sqaures the same color
as the bar above each individual flag's box but i dont rememberthe specifics,
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Are you using CivII original or ToT. I know there is a spot on the flag itself that sefines the city colour and the bar above defines the tribe name colour, or vice versus. I would not have thought that the wrong colours would have crashed the game but then what do I know. I have not worked out ToT yet but I think everything depends on the three bars above the flags.
Hopefully someone more knowledgable can post a better explaination!

I would guess that it isn't the details of the flag-changing that's crashing Civ2. I think it's likely that you're saving the file in the wrong format. Have you changed Civ2 graphics before?
