Hey you guys, just as I was reading a couple of threads in this forum I came up with this idea that I thought was good. Its an Succession Game in PBEM format that has two teams that govern thier own civilization. Each team has about 5 players and each player posts thier turns and govern most of the things as in a usual SG but here we will have tw teams playing against each other in a PBEM game at a high difficulty of AI. I would say this is more of a SG then a PBEM thats why I posted it here :D, becuase of the need of each team and posting turns.

Please post your feedback and if your interested. I have no idea if someone already posted this idea but I will try again if they did. I myslef thinks it would be very interesting. Tell me if you think the same :).

I would be tempted, although I already have a few games running. Do you mean this would be a game with 2 human civs and several AI civs, and each turn, we play after the other in each team like a good old SG ?

Does sound like a good idea, I'm surprised 1 hasn't been attempted before this.

A suggestion though, I'd limit the teams to 3 or 4 people cause combining PBEM with a SG is gonna take a LONG time!

I'm intrested if you can reqruit enough people

Yup Yup, you got the picture kryszcztov, a regular good old SG except you get to play you opponents in a real game.

I know that this format can take a while to finish but I think differently, we can all meet on the same time and both players play thier turns and post it while the next 2 player play and post. But I do agree, Gengis Khan, that the team should only be recruited to 3 or 4 people.

Im going to send a couple PMs to SG players in the forum.

Lemme know how your reqruitment goes. As I think this is a good idea & it would be unpresidented(AFAIK), I'm always down to be involved in Civ history;)

And it wouldn't really require everyone to be on at the same time, just the 2 people from opposite teams with the same 10 or 20 turns. If they weren't on at the same time the game would never get finished. However if it could be coordinated that they always managed to get together and do turns quickly the game wouldn't lag much mo0re then a normal SG.

Here is how I'd see this game...

Two or more teams of a few people each are set up. Someone who is not involved in the game generates a map with some special rules and kindly gives it to Player1 of Team1.

Teams are set up so as Player1s of each team are in the same timezone, and so on for Player2,3... So all Player1 meets at the same time (will they need a chat program ?), and Player1 of Team1 starts to play, send the save (only) to Player1 of Team2, then etc... to Player1 of TeamLast, then the 2nd turn starts, and so on until turn10... At that point, each player keeps notes of his turns and sends them to the next player of his team. Then at a chosen time, the 2nd round starts with each Player2... ... ...

So : only send the save to next player ; at the end of the round only send notes to next player (or all) OF YOUR TEAM (and of course PlayerLast of TeamX sends the save to Player1 of Team(X+1)). So no spoiler information on the board, the team could share points of view via a chat or e-mail or whatever... We could use a thread here so as to post the starting positions (or not : will this be a secret ?) and general information about the game. At the end of the game, each team could post his turns with screeshots, so as everyone could see the story...

What do you think ?

That would work. The timezone thing is a good idea, it 3would make it much easier to coordinate turns & make the game go by alot faster.

I think it would work better to send notes to all your team. You could possible even set up a private thread somewhere just to discuss strategy with your team without worryin about the other team eavesdropping. Just a suggestion.

Anyways, lemme know when you find enough people, I think 4-8 would be perfect.

Sounds like a cool idea. I have done SGs, but never a PBEM. I would be interested in participating.

Is this game gonna start ? :) I can't find your "other thread"...
I think we should do teams of 5 players max (otherwise we would wait too much for our turn), but possibly 4 or maybe 3 if you don't manage to find enough. As for the number of teams, at least 2 of course, but why not 3, 4 or 5 ? (5 human civs is good because it unables the 2vs1 or 2vs2 situations) I would say I prefer, say, 5 teams of 3 over 3 teams of 5... ;) This would make the turns longer (5 times 10 turns each time), and make the turns come again quicker. Will you put any AI civs in the game ?

Ok I made the sign up thread where it will start the game;

Yes, there is going to be AI, ofcourse! :) The game will start when there are three players for the two teams, so everyone that was interested here. go post in the obove link to sign up.

Krys, I dont know about 5 different teams, but I first want to see how it works out with just 2 teams. But maybe 5 teams may work.
