I'm playing America, Monarch, large two island game and in the middle of the Industrial. I've built the Hoover dam and am just getting tanks. I own 30% of the land and 50% of the population, but am still waiting for the GA.

What will trigger the GA? I was hoping the Hoover dam would, but it didn't.

It's triggered either when your UU wins a battles (the F-15 in this case), or when you build a (combination of) wonder(s) that match your civ's attributes. The Americans are Expansionist and Industrious, so you need to build wonders that match those traits. I'm a bit fuzzy on which wonders you should aim for, but the civpedia should say when you look at the entries for specific wonders what traits they correspond to.

Oh, almost forgot, if you build the internet wonder, you'll get the GA if you haven't had one yet. :)

If you build a wonder that fits industrious + expansionist.

If you build two wonders: one industrious + one expansionist.

Pyramids + Colossus would have given you a GA.

F15 is not far away though.

Edit: X-post with psweetman!

SETI's the next wonder with the expansionist flag, unless by some chance nobody's built Copernicus' Observatory yet. So basically, your choices are:
1. research computers and build SETI
2. research rocketry and build F-15s
3. capture Copernicus' Observatory or the Colossus, then build any other wonder, preferably Smith's if it's available (I'm assuming you already built ToE)

Every time you build a wonder, the game checks all the wonders you control for your civ's traits, so if you capture one or more wonders with your traits, then build any other wonder, you get your GA.

I already have Smiths & TOE. I guess it's capture the Colossus or Copernicus Observatory. I'll have to see how close they are to my calvary units, and how fast I can get to the city with one of these Wonders. I started a war on the other continet with 2 Civs, (It should take about five or six turn to destroy them). and was looking ahead to wiping them out before starting on the Celts. The Celts (who hold 26% of the land) are the run-away culture leaders and built many of the ancient Wonders, but very weak military due to long wars.

I'm afraid this game may be over before the GA kicks in.

Just capturing one of those wonders won't work, though; you have to build another wonder to trigger the check. Has anyone built Universal Suffrage yet? What about Magellan's? IIRC the latter wonder is expansionist, so you wouldn't even have to capture any wonders if you built it. Other than that, you'd just have to wait for computers or rocketry. You've already got motorized transportation, so either one of those should only be two techs away.

I have Universal Suffrage. Magellan's is owned by my friend who has been pumping money into my treasury for a long time, so it's hands off Magellan's for now.
