I never intended this particular game to become an AAR (After Action Report), but I've been meaning to write one, and this game turned out to be interesting so I decided to start writing one about it.
Civilization:
In the 57th year of this age, our third city was founded, Udenarat. It was built around the Gem Mine we established the same year, and miners from all of Amurite flocked there to bring the luxury of Gems to our people. Now, the Amurite citizens weren't the only people who took this opportunity for wealth and prosperity, but they were the only ones with the right to do so.
The righteous and greedy people of Elohim tried to make themselves very rich on our resources, and their government even went so far as to stage a coup replacing the Governor with one with sympathies to their cause. The city eventually joined the Elohim "Empire", the people claiming it felt no belonging to the Amurite Nation.
Amurite refugees tell another story. Grim tales of torture and people dragged out of their own homes, whipped and forced to march out in the wilderness. The survivors, chocked as they were summoned for an audience with Dain himself, offered temporary housings in the palace till new homes could be rebuilt for them in either Cevedes or Nimarail. After hearing their stories, Dain could only come to come conclusion. War.
It would become known to the world that the Amurites started the war, but the people of our nation know the whole story. It was the Elohim that started it with their greed.
Since the Amurites were a peaceful people, it took some years to make the preparations for what to come. Swordsmen were trained across the nation, and when the preparations were complete Dain personally led them to the gates of Udenarat. The city was liberated, but Dain and his men were pushed out of the city the same year. With reinforcements, the city could be retaken, again.
The Magic adepts of Amurite were assigned one simple task. Immobilize the counterattacks of the enemy. A simple task, able to be performed by a minimal amount of inexperienced magic users. The mission was succesful, the will of the Elohim faded, their soldiers returned home, one by one.
But they came back, more and more men every year.
Dain personally contacted Ethne the White for peace negotiations, but Ethne's true agenda was shown through and she wanted no peace on our terms. The only terms she could agree upon was the "return" of Udenarat or total surrender.
Not only that, when we refused their "terms", she called upon her elven friends. The forest dwellers to the west whose "religion" they share. Worshipers of nature. Nature, pfft.
Dain locked himself in for weeks in his war tent in Udenarat, meditating. Orders were not to disturb him for any reason, no food or water was brought to him, no messengers, no disturbances of any kind.
Many weeks later, Dain opened his eyes and smiled. No, grinned. He had found it. The powerful ally which his nation requires. Dain became relentless in his effort to spread his knowledge of the great power they now yield. And immediately a temple was founded to worship this new ally.
The power corrupted everyone, peasants, soldiers, scholars, politicians. It was as the people didn't need to eat. Not as much at least. Everyone seemed stronger, smarter. But those that weren't, were frowned upon, hated. In the beginning there were riots, weak minded individuals beaten bloody. Beatings eventually turned into hangings. Eventually entire families just went missing. Slavery was commonplace, but no one talked about it. Everyone knew that the weak deserved it.
Dain went abroad, to our east neighbors, the Sheaim. He told them of our situation and his new Arcane findings. The Ashen Veil spread like a plague in the Sheaim nation, they were open to it as if the religion was made for them. And they promised to help us in our war efforts against the Nature worshippers.
This was also about the same time as Hyborem entered the realm of mortals. We might need their help in the end. Cause we will win this war, even if it means turning the elven lands into hell itself.
Only years after that, Basium entered the world. It was Cardith Lorda that had summoned him. Fools following the Code of Junil. Pompus . .. .. .. .. . thinking they can tell others what is right. Obey us and be spared they said.
War is upon the world. What started in Udenarat has become a war of morals and ethics. Right and Wrong.
Good versus Evil.
Current situation:
Cevedes is about to finish the Great Library, it has not been in any grave danger since the start of the war. And once it is complete, it will continue to reinforce the war effort once it is complete.
Nimarail has also been mostly concentrating on peaceful improvements since the defenses were secured. National Epic will be complete soon. Together with the Command Post already present, and the future Form of the Titan, which might be the next build order (Rosier is lvl 6), it will hopefully produce some Great Commanders in the future.
Udenarat is where almost all the battle has taken place. And the city closest to both enemies borders. And also, the start of the whole conflict. The current assault from both sides is handled with the help of two adepts (I should have built some more) with Charm Person, some swordmen defenders, and Rosier who is at lvl 6. I accidently trained him in the wrong city after waiting till I had the Stigmata, so no Stigmata promotion for him. Not that it would have helped much. Hopefully I wont bring about Armageddon (too soon atleast
).
