Is there any way to add unit special abilities to the game. One idea I had was to add MOTORIZED as a special ability, available for ground units only, not available for fast units, which would make it available only to infantry? Motorized would set their move to 2.

Another idea, is how about removing the -1 penalty for transports? Why is it there anyways? Boats and planes have so many moves it doesn't do anything for them. But that way you could build a 2 to 3move transport rover, and use that to ferry infantry around.
 
It isn't possible to make new special abilities -- although the Grav Struts would do as you describe. Giving them a cost of -4 would make it unfeasible to put on units other than infantry.

As for the -1 move for Transport, I believe that only Unity Foils have that, if that's what you mean, and that's thanks to an ability.
 
Actually, Unity Foils have a speed of 2, because they have the disabled Slow ability. Normal transport foils have a speed of 3 and non transport foils have a speed of 4. Transport cruisers have a speed of 5 and non transport cruisers have a speed of 6.
 
Note that there is no -1 penalty for land transports built on infantry chassis; they move at speed 1. Since land transports built on rover chassis also moves at speed 1, it does not make sense to build land transports on rover chassis.
 
Just the same as you could give infantry the struts. The result would probably be the same edit:(unless it puts them back to 1 when they have more than 1 move). But you could make a basic unit that has it "free." What exactly is the point of a 1-move transport anyways? If it has armor, that's great, but if it dies do the units inside still die when on land? Kinda seems like a major liability.
