Ancient Infantry Attack!

Rofl what a hilarious bug! Game breaking yeah, but funny still.

Not sure how it should be fixed without it ruining the fun aspect of the reward though.

Hopefully they will fix this in the first patch.

Simple.. the 'upgrade' bonus is not available to a unit you can't currently build.

So Warrior->Spearman (always possible)
Spearman->Pikeman (not possible unless you have Bronze working)
Pikeman->Rifleman (not possible unless you have Civil Service)

I currently have a cannon made from my ballista.:) It's sort've like when I was playing the civ II Alexander scenario and a goody hut gave an armor.:eek: And then I forgot that triremes sink in ocean, and my tanks went down with the ship.:lol:

I had this happen on the Demo. Interesting thing was, the Archer kept the scouts 'ignores terrain movement penalty' special ability, making it a cool scout archer.

I wonder if thats working as intended and if it would keep that ability through upgrades? And also if upgraded units keep the abilities of units they are made from?

So I sure hope this is intended, but to add to it. When my Jaguar warrior (the aztec special unit upgraded) to a spearman and then to a swordsman (i payed for the second upgrade) it keep all its abilities incuding the special defensive bonus for being in the forest and more importantly to me the bonus of +2 health evertime he kills a unit. It is amazing because I just get him to run around and kill barbarian ecampments and he gains as much health as he looses so there is no healing downtime lol.

I just had this happen to me on my first game at the very start. Scout got upgraded to archer then after that Longbowman, which is a medieval unit while i was still in the ancient era.

Yes, upgraded units keep their abilities. You can get some pretty rockin' upgraded Cho-Ko-Nus (26 Attackx2!!).

I've gotten a couple of scout-archers and actually thought they were pretty great, definitely more survivable than the scouts.

However, you can't get the scout promotions after you upgrade.
