I want to learn more about the different tribes and timelines about that era. I have found nothing but 1980's study novels at my library. Any suggestions?

Well this book doesn't have any historical info but it is no the less from this era. Try reading Gilgamesh, its from this era and its about the legendary Sumerian king Gilgamesh.

I sympathize about not having easy access to quality books on Mesopotamia! All the stuff I've read on it have been in larger books that cover all ancient history or something like that, because the books I've looked at that are just ancient Mesopotamia look bad.

Can you still buy that "Ancient Mesopotamia; Portrait of a Dead Civilization" from 1977? Most of the books I have that old were either purchased from a novel bookstore in Yellowstone for a lot of money, or taken from a free book-give-away in Baltimore and in bad shape...

If you want lots of in depth information, you could read the Might that was Assyria by HWF Saggs (I think he wrote a book about Babylon you could check out as well).

I picked it up on a fire sale when a bookshop here closed about three years ago. I do not know if the book is still in print. You might want to look for it in a university library if you have access to one.
