Night Four
Chapter 7: A fatal error
The past three days had been great successes for our islanders. While three of them lay dead, they had managed to take out three Nook Inc. Agents with them. The collaborating
Island Representative seemingly died at the hands of their own organization (
Muffy never had the chance to tell anyone what she accomplished), and the Nookling twins had been dealt with.
But therein lies the problem. The
Island Representative had not been taken done by the angry islanders. Instead they had died from an unknown gunman. The Nookling twins had, in a sense, been dealt with, isolated behind copious rows of fencing, but they had not been
dealt with. Nobody had come to feel their righteous anger that the islanders held, their desire to, quite literally, tear their enemies limb from limb. But someone would.
It's a pity that that someone hadn't been responsible for the islanders predicament.
After the capture of
Tommy, rumors had begun to spread around the town. While the
Island Representative had been from among their number, they ultimately had not hid who they were. In contrast,
Tommy had, for months, pretended to be a police officer, only being found out not because somebody had seen through his disguise, but because he slipped up in dumping a body. If
Tommy had infiltrated them that well, assuming such an important role, then why couldn't there be more Nook Inc. Agents, among the islanders themselves?
With this in mind, the islanders began to pay attention to their fellows,
Bonbon's brown fur making her an obvious target for suspicion. She, of course, invited an investigation into herself, but whispers continued to follow.
"She was there in the beginning, why did she vote for the treacherous
Island Representative?"
"Why didn't she show enough zeal in imprisoning the Nookling twins?"
These rumors soon morphed into something more sinister, some whispering that
Bonbon had been seen, grieving the capture of the Nooklings.
Others whispering that
Bonbon had been seen carrying suspicious items, claiming to have seen her carrying an axe around the island, for not discernable purpose.
Whispers abounded, and the islanders, stoked by their paranoia and rage towards Nook Inc. combined to form a mob of angry villagers, not seeking to prove that
JohannaK was an agent of Nook Inc., but instead convinced of it.
Being torn apart limb from limb, the islanders did not find the disguised form of an overweight tanuki businessman, but instead that of a rabbit, trapped in the same place that they were.
JohannaK's role said:
Bonbon - Vanilla Town
