Animated smilies don't work

For some reason none of the animated similies are animated on my computer. This seems to happen on any forums I visit.
I use IE 6 and I have java installed.

I can see the smilies fine but they don't move either in posts or in the big smily windows.

I've got a dial-up modem, but why would that make a difference?

These following smilies are the only ones that are animated for me. :aargh3:

well its mayby becuase you have such a slow connection that its loading of the smilies takes too much time and so abondnded

Doesn't sound like the problem...Java shouldn't make a difference. Try reloading Windows

I use 'such a slow connection' at home and the smilies are animated fine. Must be something else...

i had it too for some time, but now they work.

I have the same problem here at home. When I was in the dorms using my laptop all the smilies worked, but now that I'm at home on my parents 4-year-old W98 machine only those three shown above by elibb work. We have a cable internet connection so I don't think connection speed is the problem.
