first, i cheat a little....if u notice, the shields are now 128, ot 64, so doulbe the quality. the other thing is scaling. if i find a nice "fleur" of lionheart on the web, i try to get a nice jpg...as i scale down (smart resizing) with "resize", i erase or push or smuge the "middle" of the pattern, for example, between the petals or between the lions.....u can also try "sharpen", and colorizing, hue and saturation are good. if u can drop a shadow. it can be dark, or it can highlight, like with the red on the fleur de lis....
for background, u can use one back drop, copy paste, change colors with "colorize"..... selection off a square, and now u have do different colors (blue/red).....oh, and the seams.....the cool thing is that u can see exactly what you are doing in nifscope as u convert the files to dds, so u can track yourself with every little detail u add.....
