Another type of Succession game?

Hello,
I've thought about a modification for the succession game:

It's basically a usual Succession game, but every player gets a unit in the game, representing him, if the unit dies, he is out ;)

I know, we have to cheat or make a mini-scen...

Well, what do you think about that?

I think the odds are pretty good that one player disbands the other player's units!!!! ;) :p

so you really whould disband a none-horseman in the beginning?
Or a non-phalanx you have immediatly? ;)

I don't see the value -- if it is a weak or "regular" unit, why bother? If it is an artificially strong unit (say a "Fanatic" 4/6/1), then there is the potential for misuse. (I would move the "other players" units out for search for example, but keep mine close to home.)

Besides, many succession games seem to be lacking willing players, so methods to reduce players is counter-productive.

well..
maybe there has to be another rule:
all player units have to survive, just to add challenge ;)

making them really strong could be done by making a scen ;)

I remember seeing a scenario with some strong units that were immovable -- another twist ; found a city, plant one of those, play accordingly...

This sounds quite interesting...though I've never played a succession game and propably ever will..
