hi there, i reworked it, well reworked his face and helmet, and included a proper button, because i got asked for. readme is in the zip.

Did it for the Greek World Scenario shipped with Civ4, tell me if u want to use it for a mod (dont have a problem with it ;))

finally uploaded the zip file ;) have fun

That is a great skin looks better than the original:goodjob:

Ok, im having problems putting this into the game. The problem is that i want to put it into the game as a separate unit, (i.e. not overwriting the swordsman). What i have done is created a folder mods/mymod/assets/art/unit/torvillianguard, and into this i have put the skin. I have redone the XML units file so that it points to art_def_unit_torvillian_guard.
I then changed this file like so:

<NIF>Art/Units/TorvillianGuard/Swordsman.nif</NIF>

<KFM>Art/Units/TorvillianGuard/Swordsman.kfm</KFM>

<SHADERNIF>Art/Units/TorvillianGuard/Swordsman_FX.nif</SHADERNIF>

However when playing the game i get three red circles instead of the unit and the skin, and the civilopedia entry which i type in has gone.

Can anyone explain why this is happening and ideally point me to a step by step guide to how to add new units in this way

thanks in advance

if i wouldnt be too tired, i would explain it right here, but go to this thread, you can get more help

updated it!
added button for mrkingkong and his mod!

If you want the proper city bar icon to show for this unit, place this file (unit_resource_atlas.dds) in your mod folder: assets\art\interface\buttons.

This is if you are replacing the pic for the default swordsman.

Let me know if you've added this as a separate unit. I may make a new file for you.

Oooh i think i like this offer very much so :)

If you fancy something to pass the time, perhaps i could have a few units for you to do...

1-- Torvillian Knight

I dont know what you are like at doing horse artwork but...
A reskin of the Knight unit in a similar fashion to the Swordsman, with the colours gold and purple, but they are a position of great honour and rank much higher than the Torvillian Guard (your swordsman) will do, so perhaps they should be significantly different and obviously a higher "caste".

Im no artist so i will leave that to your Artistic License, and a button wouldnt go amiss either ;)

2-- Sedaou (hero of Torville)

Basically a very young Torvillian Knight, slightly wild and erratic. He can be either on foot or mounted, but if mounted he should be significantly different to a Torvillian Knight.

Again, you have artistic license as nothing is set in stone

3 (and final for now;) )-- Northmen Stock

Farmers' sons, armed with axes. The traditional "strongest and fittest looking, able to wield axe well but with no experience" unit. Probably neutral cloth colours, but with a slightly barbarian appearance.

Again, the license to change as you see fit (thats why i gave you some background info), but a button for the unit also please.

Thank you very much in advance :goodjob:
