Any cheat for this?

Neither save really hurt my eyes as badly as I would have expected :)

The space loss to Zara I can't really comment about too well - my games are usually over before 1800 (higher levels are faster) and some of my concerns might be due to the desperate situation.
For example, you have neither Representation for better specialists nor cottage-friendly civics and it shows in your economic output.

One thing that strikes me is that you have very little infrastructure in several cities, despite generous hammers.

The 1320AD one also has me puzzled about your civics - this time you have Representation but you hardly run specialists. Serfdom provides too little be worth giving up Slavery (or possibly Caste System) - if your workers aren't doing their job in time simply build more.
Your underdeveloped cities are busy building defenders instead of infrastructure that will make them profitable quickly; for the garrisons you should have a dedicated military production powerhouse.
To help withe the infrastructure, I would also suggest Organised Religion.

You are working too many bad tiles... when better ones are available. Forests and plains farms are dubious, unimproved grassland and tundra forest is inexcusable. You pay maintenance for every city and every citizen... if you don't put them to use you are paying for nothing.

Thx. Just curious but how do I improve the tundra forest? I can't build a sawmill there yet cause I don't have the tech yet and most of the tundra forest squares I can't build farms.. Do I just chop the forests down?

Generally, any terrain worse than plains can be considered junk and left idle for a long, long time - specialists with Representation are are a better investment for excess food.

If you don't need the production from a lumbermill, in the late game Forest Preserves might actually the best option - a happiness bonus you don't need to sink hammers in and that might apply to several cities.

Well once again to prove how bad I am I'm getting my butt kicked on a new map (I won that other noble land-based map though BTW)

Just wondering what strats you guys use when you start on a smaller continent with one other race (Gilgamesh in my case who took too long for me to beat I think, cause now I'm waaaay behind..) and the other races are on bigger continents. It seems really tough to win those, at least for me. Heck all noble games are tough for me to win. :(

Anyway here's the map, any tips appreciated. I think I'm pretty much screwed but next time I'm just wondering if it's possible to win when you start on a smaller continent with one other guy....

Also, just curious, is it possible to consistently get the Versailles national wonder built? I never can get the thing built before someone reaches the later ages...

Terrain WORSE than plains?! I'd say that you could make a case for NON-rep specialists as opposed to working like riverside tundra, or desert hills or something.

It's almost always possible to win, unless you're on an isolated start on a very high difficulty level. Very few games are unwinnable from the outset. ;)

Erm... Versailles is not a national wonder, it's a world wonder. Hence only one person can build it, and once they do you won't be able to build it.

But aside from that, I should point out that it's not necessary to consistently get any wonders to win the game. Versailles is usually one that I find it best to avoid (unless I have marble). It's quite a handy wonder to conquer from another civ, because your maintenance will be automatically reduced for those far-away cities - so often it's handy just to let the AI build it.

I might look at your savegame later when I have a bit of time.

Thanks. I went on to lose that game and have now started a new one. I'm definitely doing better at it because I have started on a bigger land mass. Nice to know very few starts are unwinnable (unlike colonization, for me at least) but like I said I do have more problems when I start on a smaller continent with one other race on that continent. On noble I can usually conquer him pretty easy but by the time I do and get control of the Continent I'm usually waaay behind others in tech...

Thanks. Had a brain cramp there, I just kept assuming it was a national wonder because it involved the forbidden palace national wonder effect. My bad.
