Attatched below is my current regent game, using Iroquois and playing C3C.

Due to my military strength I can basically annihilate both Germany and Carthage whom are both situated on my continent. Same can be said about Japan and Netherlands both of which are situated on the same continent as Arabia, but I think it's only a matter of time before Arabia wipe the Netherlands from the game anyway (they're currently at war with one another)

Arabia however, are a different kettle of fish. They currently have the largest military and stretch across most of their own piece of land.

I could bag this game through winning the space race, but would prefer winning by conquest.

If anyone could give me some pointers on what size of force I'd require, landing areas and whether it's a good idea at all, it would be most appreciated. :)

You're in a pretty good position here. You're the only one with tanks and have a great tech lead. Take out Arabia first obviously. Don't waste your time with Carthage and Germany. They have no real navy and you're already railroaded so no matter how many troops they throw at you you should be able to put down a sneak attack.

In any city capable of pumping out tanks in less than 10 turns, stop making city improvements and get going on tanks and to a lesser extent bombers. No one else is near flight, your bombers are unlikely to face resistance anytime soon, so attrition isn't going to be a factor.

Arabia's main fighting unit is going to be its calvary, so you're probably going to want to take out the saltpeter or horses early to make your life easier. The saltpeter is going to be hard to take out right away, but the horses should be relatively easy. Arrange for trade embargoes with everyone you can. Arabia has three sources of horses that I can see. One near Delft, one near Baghdad, and one near Mecca. My personal strategy for the battle would be to send a small detatchment up to Delft two turns ahead of your main force. Arabia isn't likely to have much defense up there in the middle of nowhere. If you can take that town and get two or three TOW in there, you should have no problem holding it no matter what Arabia throws at you. And hopefully they at least start to send up most of their fighting force, because the next town I'd take is one of the larger ones. I'd advise sending 20 or so tanks, 4-6 TOWs, a bunch of artilary, a worker and what ever random war fodder you have lying around to the mountains near Yamana. Raze Yamana, it'd likely be more trouble to hold than its worth, what with the mountains to the west. Raze Yamana and go mountain hoping to Baghdad. Pound Baghdad as best you can to get its size down a bit and once you get in there build an airfield with your worker and bring in the bombers. Arabia is a long way away from flight, so you should have no problem with the small airforce you already have as long as you continue to build it while you're fighting. Bomb the horses by Mecca and then just try and hold Baghdad with the forces you've got left. Hopefully by this point your cities back home have produced enough tanks to send a detatchment to Muscat. Muscat would make a nice port for transporting troops, especially if you can take it with its harbor intact.

That'd be how I'd do it.

I looked at your save and your doing pretty good, but there are things you could be doing better in. First thing I noticed is you're a Republic. For an empire fo your size, unless you want a Space victory, Communism is a much better choice. All your cities will be muh more productive, and your core won't lose more then two shields in corruption, and you will get a much greater military support, which you will need for you're coming wars. Second thing I noticed is you have some cities on wealth, this is a no-no, they could be building units for your war, or workers to help improve newly conquered land, pretty much anything is better then wealth.

I looked at your units, and you have not nearly enough if you want to win by Conquest. Your going to need to build up a navy/airforce first. I suggest about 40-50 bombers, and 10-20 jets for your airforce. For your navy you're going to need some Carriers firstly, so you can transport your airforce over the sea. Recommend anywhere between 10-15, then you're going to need some escorts for your Carriers. Destroyers are a good choice IMO, 20-25 is good. (you can throw in Battleships for a good mix if you want, but not required) A few Nuclear subs once you discover Fission, and have a bit of extra shields to kill wouldn't be bad either. You'll also need some transports to transport your troops to the Arabian continent. Your land forces are ok, but not enough, and a little outdated. You need many more Artillery at least 40 more, 60 would be better. You need some Infantry to defend those Artillery, at least a quarter the number of Artillery you have. Then you will need some Tanks, about 25 Tanks should be enough, because of all the Artillery/Bombers, but more may be required.

As for a military strategy I would take over the rest of your continent first. The Germans, and Carthaginians both have two luxuries that will be very nice to have, and allow you to trade them to the Dutch/Japanese/Arabs (until you kill them) for some extra cash to keep your tech rate up (Communism is a bit slow in tech). You could either leave Carthage's two island cities alone or conquere them now rather then later, the choice is yours.

As for attacking the Arabs, try to grab a Dutch city before the Arabs take them all, so you will have a foothold on the continent. If you can do this there won't really be much need for a navy, as you can transport all your units by air. Just enough transports/troops to take a Dutch city. I recommend taking Maastricht if you can, but Groningen would also be a decent foothold. Or you could attack the Japanese at Nara for another lux, and get the Arabs to take them out with you. This will make the Arabs a bit stronger (if they take any Japanese land), but you will have the foothold needed for a major assault on Arabia.

The buildup of forces will probably take until about 1925-ish, but if you are prepared enough you could be ruling the world by 1960. The time in Anarchy will be a major killer, and take up what seems forever, but the production gained from Communism will make up for this. Or you could stick to Republic and cash rush everything, that would probably work, but you'd have to slow down your research, and unit upkeep will be a killer.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to look at the save and more importantly, taking the time to explain things and how to improve my style of play.

I'll let you know if i manage to pull it off.

Very much appreciated guys :)

Woo-hoo \o/

After implementing advice from both posts i've now managed to wipe Arabia from the map, after they wiped The Netherlands and Japan before hand, not before I managed to bag Maastricht as to launch my assault from though. I then went on to conquer Carthage, thus leaving my only opponent (Germany) with 2 skanky cities. I was done and dusted before 1980.

My first ever conquest victory on Regent, something i never even managed to achieve on Warlord.

Cheers :goodjob:
