I thought the patch notes said 1.20 savs would work in 1.20 but I get errors when trying to load them up!! I was in the middle of a game and was really looking forward to playing on the commute tomorrow.. is there any fix for this?

Thanks,

Matt

There is no way to convert 1.20 save to 1.22, but there is a way to continue playing your current game.

1) Backup your v1.22 conqustes.biq file (and optionaly conquests.mb if you want game to add into high scores)
2) Find 1.20 version of conquest.biq (and mb) and use them to replace 1.22 files.
3) Play your old save

IMPORTANT:
Put back 1.22 versions of the files after you finish the game, if you don't want to get even more imcompatible saves.

P.S.
v1.00-1.15 saves are not compatible with 1.20 nor 1.22, nor are 1.20 saves compatible with 1.22 as far as I know.

I seem to recall that 1.15 saves could be played with 1.20... Unfortunately they don't work with 1.22 so with the PBEMs I've been playing, I have to swap back between 1.15 and 1.22 by applying and removing the patches.

Is there anywhere I might find this file without reinstalling Civ? I couldn't find anything in google..

Thanks!

If you installed 1.22 over 1.20 you could uninstall 1.22 (and thus revert to 1.20), make backups of needed 1.20 files and then install 1.22 again.

Never tested, but I hope it works.

Hmm.. maybe I'll try that on the bus home tonight (at work atm). Let's hope for the best.

When you uninstall 1.22 by rerunning the patch (it will ask you whether you want to uninstall the patch after extracting itself) you will then need to rerun the 1.20 patch to replace the files which will have been deleted, which also means that you will probably have to uninstall the 1.20 patch as well.

So to get from 1.22 you would need to run the 1.22 patch and then the 1.20 patch once or twice depending on whether it uninstalls the first time.

To get back to 1.22 you just need to run the 1.22 patch again.

You really start to appreciate it when situations arise where you don't have to change the patch for a few days :) Although it does take less than a couple of minutes to change the version.
