I counted about 47 horsemen in that all of that mess:

Don't ahve a screenshot, but one time, I was next to about ten barbarian camps. Then, my military advisor said " theres is a barbarian uprising near ____!!!"
After seeing about a hundred barbarian units, I quite the game very fast.

Yeah, I made a map one time with sixteen barb camps in a ring around my capitol and just played to see how long I could last. This was on "raging" barbs, and I believe I lasted 8 turns.

i'm expecting he'll get promoted to elite soon. then die.

I saw at least fifty barbarian horsemen head for a city once...luckily it was an AI's city.

At least they can't take your cities anymore ;)

Sure. World Map scenario, barbarian camps in australia. I was the first person to land there, pretty late in the game (landed with musketmen), and discovered barbarians pretty much shoulder-to-shoulder across the entire breadth of australia. Had to wait several turns off-shore just for a clear spot to land. Watching the hordes come surging at my colonial expedition, turn after turn, then trying to expand my settlements and 'pacify' the region, remains one of my fondest Civ memories.

A nice thing to do is to lure the barbs into enemy territory with a fast unit and... MAYHEM. :D

And you have only a wounded warrior to defend. Still if this is C3C he might survive. Most of the barbs will fortify in place and wait for you come and kill them. :(

In my current game I had that happen to me TWICE!!! I had 4 or 5 stacks of barbs in my part of the world, once when I was in a heavy war with america. Fortunately I was greeks and just enjoyed watching them through themselves on my cities...

That's normal for restless or above barb. Thank goodness they're not that smart.

The moral of the story is to keep the barb camps cleared out when turn-of-age approaches, or empty your treasury and place a decoy town out in front to take the punishment.

I have held off at least twenty or thirty barbarians on horses by fortifying two or three spearmen/pikemen on a city. Of course I was playing warlord level so I guess they were not very difficult.

Actually, luckily this warrior is on the opposite side of the map, so I don't have to worry about the barbs bothering my cities any.

52 in an early GOTM (11 or so - Germany). Fortunately, one of the 5 stacks went for Russia.
