anyone have trouble w/ game turning off

hi guys

first time poster, long time reader. i have trouble with the game just shutting off in midplay and computer just going to desktop. another little thing is the diplomacy faces aren't visible, just red inside the box where there heads should be. any ideas?

Perhaps the better question would be: "Is anyone NOT having trouble with this game crashing?" At least you would get a managable volume of responses (like maybe 2).

Sorry, I spent the last 2 days screwing around with this game, enduring crashes without number. You should consider yourself lucky that you just crash back to desktop instead all the way. Be happy!

wasn't sure if "crashing" and just turning off were related or different things. is it possible that people w/ microsoft framework installed are fairing worse than people without it?

After spending days in this thread, seems to me that the 2 most likely causes are "memory leaks" and video errors (video card compatability, directX problems, etc). Maybe it's both. There are probably more problems than that - I'm convinced that the game was released "before it's time", and will require a multitude of fixes to get it stable.
At this point, all I can hope is that they can get some of these major issues fixed in a timely manner - I sure would like to be able to play my $50.00 game.

@sdblues: yes, this problem has been frequently reported in a variety of threads. While some people have exclusively suffered from crashes to desktop, most appear to suffer random reboots, as well.
