The Civ III combat calculator (version 2.0) which I found on this site has a long list at the bottom of 0-1, 0-2, 0-3 for the defender and 1-0, 2-0, and so on for the attacker. What do these lists refer to?

Am I right in assuming that the top two percentages upon calculation are the chances that that unit will win any given exchange (hit point)? What are the rest of them then?

They refer to the expect hits left.

Expected hit points left? What do you mean? One one hit point can be lost in a particular exchange, right? I know more than one can be lost in a battle obviously, but in each exchange, somebody loses one hit point and only one, right?

This is based on my assumption that (and maybe I'm wrong, that the top percentage is the chances of winning any particular exchange (or point).

The combat calc I use lists AHPL and DHPL which seem to be Attacker and defender hit points lost. So from my example, attacker has 12.7% chance of losing 2hp but killing the defender etc.
Hope that helps you out.
