Anyone Notice A Lack of Good Resources in Their Games?

I have played four games over the last week at the Prince level w/ the Resources set to different levels for each game against the computer, and have noticed an almost complete lack of things like Gold & Silver mines. Other Resources like Cotton, Silk, etc are also in short supply. I have run games at Regular, Abundant, and Legendary Start w/o noticing much difference in how many Resources I find during the game.

The one online game I played against another person and 2-computer players using the PC version had lots of Resources available, especially Gold and Silver mines.

I am assuming this is a bug in the Mac version; can anyone comment?

I very much agree. I've played on prince and warlord and aside from my Arab civ getting lots of luxury resources near my cities, I had almost no strategic resources the entire game. On my other games I can say there has been a lack of resources to the point that it is very hard to actually play the game well, let alone win the game.

I've seen this in the PC version as well. An entire continent (mine) had no coal or aluminum. There were 2 silk nodes, total, and those were owned by city-states.

Just weird.

Actually if you look at the map scripts, specifically AssignStartingPlots.lua, you'll see all sort of interesting algorithms for placement of resources. I personally like the way it lays things out, so there will probably always be some resource you're missing that you'll have to fight over or city state you'll have to friend or take over to acquire.

The problem is definitely just w/ the current Mac version. I played a game on the PeeCee version last night and set it for the same parameters and Abundant resources. There was lots more of everything except Gold; but I did see SOME on the map, instead of none.

not criticizing anyone here, i'm new to strategy games as a whole and don't know anything about reading codes and such but i like how the resources are placed. it makes you think carefully about what to do with you money. invest in an army to take territory or invest in gaining a city state as an ally. its hard and obviously not for ppl who like being spoiled. although i have noticed a lack of diversity in resources, so you are correct there. once again no offense to anybody.
