Anyone use the Gov Fascism?

is this government fun play for a warmonger?

how bad is the reduction in population?
 
Well generally Fascism is good if you have a small to midsize country, with metros, and you need some unit support for late game smashing. Communism is better the larger you are generally.

That said no, I never use it. Two revolts is too many, there is no reason Monarchy or Republic can't work as well without the anarchy. Also, Fascism (and communism) are optional techs! This makes it unlikely I'd even have the option to go Fascism, even if I were religious and had decided I wanted to. There is no reason to get the Fascism tech as you don't need it to win, and the government type it gives is only marginally better than the one you already have.

Edit: I'm not actually sure how bad the pop reduction is, maybe one pop per city or something? I don't think I've ever actually used Fascism.
 
Meh. I used it once, and it worked out well enough. Didn't ruin me, but I wasn't doing anything that couldn't be accomplished in Monarchy or Communism.

I don't.
If you're planning war, go Monarchy or Republic after all and cope with the WW.
If your empire is large (think 30, 40+ cities large) then I'd even go for communism.

Same here. I've never used it. If WW is a real problem Monarchy does the job although I'm generally one of the Republic fans. I can imagine it might be good in very special circumstances. Also, I don't like a second round of anarchy if I can avoid it.
 
Not to sidetrack anything....but what exactly are the effects of WW? Unhappy faces? Low commerce?
 
If you have some 5 to 6 metros and a couple small cities, are backwards in the tech race, have acess to strategic resources for offensive units, Fascism can turn your backwater civ into a blitzkrieg warhorse in a few turns, combine that with GA, plus mobilization and you´ll be pumping out units like crazy, of course this will mean you will have to go to war, not just cold war....

The worker rate is excellent, making your small worker force twice as better, Spies are veteran, steal the techs you need, Xenophobic makes you lose population once you get Fascism, but you´ll recover in a couple turns, no biggy (get the granary full of food and in 3/4 turns you´ll be at the old level). The forced ressetlement isn´t that bad also (less people to startve once you conquer) and the police limit of 4 units allows you to transform your big military into content faces while they wait for the next war to come...

Since you can´t really rush production with money, use it for upgrades and tech stealing, or just bribe/buy/bully the AI into giving what you want (doesn´t always work though).
