I was using a liberal dose of poetic licence, Smash.

But now that I think about it perhaps it was like yours in that it was (hopefully, for both of us) the correct choice!

Unfortunately, this format doesn't allow for speculation. Its akin to postal chess. That, and a high rated unknown opponent makes me chicken

I was debating whether to play this or the more cautious 11..f6. Then I remembered my advocacy of swashbuckling and decided to practise what I preach

Why are Anand's knights and bishops in column formation? Is it only effective when they are an odd number of columns apart? Is the fourth rank a neutral zone? Or are Smash's pieces on too tight a rein?

I like this position. but I don't know who for.

Good observations Algernon. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0> I hadn't noticed any of this -- too deeply immersed in the game to notice its strange geometry.

This is a good rule of thumb, I think. b4 seems like the natural plan in this position, but it would have probably been stronger if Be3 had been played in one move rather than Bd2-e3. Anyway, I'm still not sure what's going on in this position exactly...

Just wanted to let you know that I'm leaving tonight (sorry I'm unable to post a move right now -- very rushed) and will be back on Tuesday. Sorry about that.

I wonder how many other such forums there are?

I'll try to catch a game with him sometime, but I'd hate to leave this forum, so maybe we can drag him over here somehow.
