Abu tossed restlessly in the night. He was running down enemies atop a black animal. He was charging a city with the same animal, wielding a metal stick with smoke pouring out. He was on a giant thing floating in the sea. He was in something far above the ground. He was standing in bloodstained ruins - alone.

In 4000 BC Abu Bakr, inspired by a dream he had once had as a boy, stood with many settlers and scouts to found a civilization. He would take over the world - with no one else standing against him. The lands around were fertile, with cattle and wine. This would be a fine spot to found a city, Abu mused. But we must move NW to gain the production advantage of the area we are in now. So, in 3950 BC, Mecca was founded.

Abu immediately sent out the scout party to look for other peoples. They would be his first targets. But instead of enemies, the scout found friends. In 3800 BC, the scout wandered on a party of nomads. They saw the light, and founded the new city of Medina in the name of Abu Bakr. When news reached Abu, he was delighted. With population comes power.

After this, the scout unit found the first target. Egypt. Unfortunately, the Egyptian military forces were huge. When Abu heard this, he was most upset. However, he thought, patience will be needed, but the final victory will be mine.

Mecca produced another scout unit, and set to work on another after that. With knowledge comes power. In 3500 BC, one of the scout units of Arabia discovered a rough collection of huts NW of Mecca. On talking to these people, they gave the nation of Arabia the knowledge of Warrior Code.

With this knowledge, Abu was able to trade with Egypt, for more knowledge and gold. Abu was pleased at this too. Let the Egyptians benefit from his knowledge as Arabia benefited from theirs. The Egyptians would believe Arabia to be friendly - until Arabia would have enough might to crush them.

Over the next 600 years, 3 more civilizations would be met. The Dutch, Japanese and Indians. Arabia would trade with the Dutch and the Indians, with knowledge from more primitive towns discovered by scouts, and with the technology given to Arabia by Egypt. Abu was very happy.

Work at home was going well for Arabia too. Workers had irrigated cattle pastures, vineyards, and had mined productive grassland outside Mecca. In 2850 BC a granary was built, and soon after the vineyards were connected to the capital by road so the people could enjoy this luxury.

In 2630 BC, the first settler party left Mecca. They formed the city of Damascus in 2590 BC. The empire was expanding. Abu was happy with the progress he had made over the first 1500 years of the Arabic empire. He was ahead of everyone else in terms of scientific research. He had similar city numbers to his foes. But what would the future hold for Abu Bakr. Would his dreams of world conquest come true? As Abu looked out of his window that night, he saw a black crow against a red sunset. The sign of war. It may not be tomorrow, it may not be for many years. But Abu knew it would come.

Abu grew restless. He needed war, he wanted to realize his dreams of world domination. But he knew patience. Patience is power, he thought. The empire as we left it in 2590 BC

In 2470 BC, Abu whipped the citizens in Medina, to force them to construct a temple faster. This would allow arab culture to spread further through the lands, especially to a nearby forest full of game. Another joyful happening of that year was news from the far western scout. As well as reporting the meeting of a portuguese and Byzantine people, he wandered upon a friendly people, who adopted arab ways and founded a city in Abu's name. Baghdad.

In 2350 BC, the people of Egypt learnt the skill of iron working. This was technology Abu desperately craved. More than warriors with stone axes would be needed to fight them all, his enemies. So Alphabet was traded with the Egyptians for this vital knowledge. Abu was overjoyed that 2 sources of iron were found near Arabia. The next settler party out of Mecca was detailed to settle on the iron closest to Egypt.

Mecca was by now producing settlers every 5 turns, to fill the land with arabian citizens and culture. Thus, it wasn't long before Najran was founded by the iron deposits west of Mecca. In 2110 BC, this fine city was founded.

However, the iron there wasn't connected to the rest of the empire for another 500 years due to a worker shortage and the hilly terrain. Abu was very angry. To take out his frustration, he ordered the people of Baghdad and Kufah to be whipped to finish construction of their temples more quickly. Kufah was involved in a cultural battle with the Egyptian city of Alexandria. The Egyptians were severely cramping Arab breathing room.

In 1950 BC, Writing was discovered and traded to Egypt for Horseback Riding and Mathematics. The latter provided technology to build catapults. Arab scholars attempted to discover philosophy next, to bring technology to Arabia. But Portugal discovered it before Abu's people, and they recieved prosperity and technology instead. Unperturbed, Abu finished research of Philosophy, and it was traded with other techs to bring Arabia to the leading technological position behind Portugal.

Abu was sick of the view of Egyptian cities on the horizon of his palace balcony. They needed to be captured or destroyed. Arabian culture was the only true one. Egypt was the weakest civilization on the continent, except for Arabia. So the military buildup started. Damascus, Medina, Mecca and Najran trained fine swordsman. Kufah build superb catapults. Other cities trained the occasional regiment of spearmen.

By 1000 BC, the military buildup was only half done. But the soldiers would come, Abu knew. His miltary was already on par with Egypts. When it was superior, he would strike. The empire at 1000 BC. Baghdad far, far west of here.
