Are 1.59 saves compatible with 1.61?

I am playing an email game with my dad, and we started in 1.59. If we both install 1.61, can we still play using the same saves? Basically, can we load 1.59 saves in 1.61?

In 2 of the 5 SGs I'm in, we've upgraded to 1.61 already. No problems whatsoever.
