Hi, everyone!
Are internet games still possible with Civ2? I dowloaded a free Civ2 from a game site. Don't know how they did it, but am able to play, although the Hall of Fame is loaded with someone's games. I then downloaded Cedric Greene's patch to up grade to Civ2 Gold - and it worked - except for the counsels. I guess it still needs the disk to use that feature.
But, before and after I downloaded Cedric Greene's patch, I have been unable to connect to an internet game. When I try to connect to an internet game, and type in my IP address, I always get the message: "waiting to connect to the game machine". and always followed by the message, " connection to the game machine has failed".
Is playing on the internet still a valid option? Is there something I am doing wrong? Is this related to my IP address constantly changing (because of my IP changing it}? Is there any hope of ever playing a Civ2 game on the internet? If I try on CivIII would I have similar issues?
All help appreciated. Thanks.
p.s. It just occurred to me to consider, does the game machine fail to connect because I do not have a disk? Does anybody know? I might have to flip for the $5 to cover the disk and postage if that is the case.
Thanks, again.
