Are Lrg.pcx, Sml.pcs & Units_32 images required to add a unit to game?

I have collected several great units from you guys (thank-you Dark Sheer, Pablostuka, Kal-el, Kentonio, and others for these great units and the right to use them).
Some units came with units_32 images, lrg.pcx and sml.pcx images, some did not.
The units that came with units_32 images, lrg.pcx, and sml.pcx images have been added to my game and they work great.
The units that are missing the units_32 image or Lrg.pcx and Sml.pcx images have not been added to my game because I'm under the assumption that the images must be included for the unit to work.
I've been searching the forums every day hoping that these images will be added, but haven't found them yet.
I've also been searching for clues as to whether or not they are needed, but haven't found an answer yet.

Could someone please clear up this issue?

Units_32.pcx, unitlarge.pcx and unitsmall.pcx images are required for new units. However, you can just re-use existing pictures that are similar to the unit you are adding, at least until someone comes up with new ones for that unit.
