Are patches automatic?

Just wondering because I've read that Steam has made 3 patches so far. Are they automatically uploaded and installed while just clicking and playing the game?

They are automatically loaded by Steam, however it is possible to turn the auto updating off. To check whether patches are being loaded automatically right click on the name in the library, choose properties and select the updates tab.

You can check the version of your civ by right clicking on the .exe file, selecting properties and then the details tab. The product version should be 1.0.0.20.

Thanks. Can you tell me where the .exe file would be located? Is it the Steam .exe file?

No, it's the civilizationV .exe you want

It'll be in steam\steamapps\common(I think from memory)\ then you sould see the civ 5 directory. Look in there.
