Are the Taliban really defeated

Thank you for correcting my incorrect post, Kinght-Dragon.

Sometimes I open mouth before engaging brain!:crazyeyes

From watching the news:

Human Intelligence is pouring in to the Special Forces with the collapse of the Taliban. Most former supporters are defecting, as is common in that country when one side starts losing badly.

There wont be many places to hide, the stones are being overturned. Some with bunker-busters!:hammer:

Seems like some Taliban (a few 1000s?) are fleeing into Pakistan; into those outlandish areas known as 'tribal agencies' where basically, Pakistani rules and laws don't apply. A leftover fr the British days when they found it too hard and troublesome to subdue those border tribes with Afghanistan and so just left them alone with practically self-rule. Hope not too many, otherwise they could use it as a relatively safe staging board to attk back into Afghanistan.
Also Jalahabad in the north-east had apparently fallen but to unknown forces. And a few thousand Talibans and Arab Brigade ppl couped up in Kanduz in the north, surrounded by NA fighters. A standoff. Also an unconfirmed report that Taliban had announced they were retreating fr Kandahar within 24 hrs.

Just read that they are pulling back from Kandahar, that Atef got killed by air raids, and that "hundreds" of US troops are on the ground fighting and killing Taliban and al-Qaeda (Donald Rumsfeld quoted on MSNBC)
Also, British Royal Marines are landing near Kabul, and the French and Germans among others have authorized big troop contributions.
French marines already there, reportedly, and Foreign Legion on way.
Germans most probably would send their alpine/mountain troops among others, and they are very good.

The end seemingly draws near. The enemy took on the rest of the world, and are losing.

Overthrow of the Taliban is only a matter of time. Getting the bigwigs may take longer, but they are incresingly isolated. After this, I like others, have an inkling that there may be some more action in a nearby country starting with "Ira" and ending with "q"

Use of military tribunals authorized by President Bush. Interesting, as it looks like they'll go for swift justice (how will they transport a lethal injection set up over there for Bin Laden etc when caught;)? Can't do it any other way, or the civil liberties anti-death penalty mob will get snooty...;) )

k, i can't be bothered reading all that crap, but just know this...

Q. Why can't Afghans watch TV?
A. Coz there is a Telly-Ban

Strange thread to insert a joke in.

Anyway, also read that aid agencies are trying to set up shop in Afghanistan and begin distributing food, under protection of Western forces. Apparently all the food has already been stored around Afghanistan (incl even Iran). Hopefully, this will blunt some of the criticisms fr Muslim nations. I hope they can do more too, rather than simply sit around and criticizing.
