Has anybody bought one of these yet - and can report back on colour
accuracy for graphics/photography?

19" LCD Monitor for ~ $92 seems too good to be true. I prefer to watch movies away from my desk.
I'd like to finally get rid of my massive Diamondtron CRT - retained
because I'm too tight-arsed to pay the $ a flat panel decent enough for
photo-editing use.

Link for the monitor doesn't seem to work.

Could have a better contrast ratio I suspect. Why are so many comptuer moniters widescreen now? Very few games have support for widescreen, little alone true support.

What? The vast majority of games have widescreen now, particularly since any console port is guaranteed to work in widescreen.

The vast majority of games thankfully are not console ports, which I don't really play anyways. And even then, games like Bioshock don't have true widescreen support (they just chop off part of the screen). There are plenty of non-recent games that get distorted on widescreen computers too.

I really don't see the advantage.

Vast majority of total games maybe, but PC exclusive releases are a minority now. The vast majority of recently released games have widescreen support.

Bioshock has true widescreen support, the lack of proper widescreen support was a bug with the release version, it was patched a while ago.

Widescreen has a number of advantages:

1. Bigger monitors. You can't get any good sized (24"+) monitors in non widescreen format.
2. Fits better to the human field of vision.
3. Better for movies and TV, the majority of which are filmed in widescreen.

In general, monitors that are wider than they are tall are far more useful for desktop work than square monitors, and in situations where they aren't, you can always swivel a widescreen monitor 90 degrees.

Uh, because most people who own PCs aren't PC gamers? ;)
