Other than the obvious offensive uses for artillery, they can be extremely useful in defending a chokepoint. If you fortify 3 or 4 artillery(or cannons) along your "Maginot Line", as soon as war begins, start bombarding improvements to knock out all roads in their territory leading up to your fortresses. After this is done, you will get at least one, maybe two shots with your artillery at each stack of units that approaches, and then another if they actually make it close enough to attack. Plus, if they are launching a major offensive, you will have at least one extra turn after seeing it coming to reinforce your positions.

Artillery is great conquering cities disregarding culture. I usually have mine travel with three artillery units and one defensive units. Set them up close enough and reduce the city until a separate force comes and takes the city (takes time). So, like you, I have fun with artillery (catapults, however, are useless - take forever and dozens of them to conquer a city).

The Not So Fun part comes when I move my artillery units then the program takes me to other units on other part of the map, then comes back to move my defensive unit. More than once I accidentally press the wrong movement button on that defensive unit and guess what  :( any enemy unit above worker destroys all my expensive artillery in one swipe :( Sometimes I bomb an enemy unit and then forget that it has used up it's turn until I find out I left it alone and unprotected. Don't know how the AI does it, but it must paradrop units and destroys my artillery, then dissapears again

I'll continue to use artillery :goodjob: but MUST REMEMBER to be carefull.
