Do you want SIGNIFICANT change to the artillery system? (Do not mean mandatory change to the civ3 system)

Just to not multiply threads on the same topic.

EDIT X 1

Why don't you explain some of the problems with the artillery system in your opinion.

Got my first message more clear. Just don't want to multiply threads on the same topic.

I voted no - I can live with a change to the SMAC system (and may even favor it), but I certainly don't want to go back to the Civ3 artillery. Since the poll doesn't state *which* change is intended, I vote no to stay on the safe side. I wouldn't want my vote to be counted as supporting a Civ3 system, for example.

That's not a good poll imho. You may end up with a majority of people wanting significant changes, but being totally discordant about which changes to make. You may even get a majority for change when the fans of the current implementation are the largest single group. (Example: 40% favor the current system, 30% favor the Civ3 system, 30% favor a SMAC system. The poll will yield a majority for change, although the largest group favors the current system. You would also get a majority for change if any of the two other variants were implemented and you asked this question.)

You know, I just had a fight with a catapult that had me cursing like Cartman - I had a stack headed for a weakly defended Spanish city, and a single catapult engaged my stack, and did enough colateral that I was forced to break the assault off and heal my units in friendly territory. I think artillery is a marvellous counter to the Stack of Doom - you pack your troops in one small space, expect heavy casualties. The new artillery system forces tactics - instead of counter counting.

It's good, but it's not that good. The best I've seen the AI do is put maybe one bombard unit per city, then fire it at the first "stack" that approaches. So, now I just send in my "absorber" stack ahead of my stack of doom to suck up the collateral hits first.
