So I'm taking a break from my Total Conversion Mod because I'm stuck with a few things, so I decided to make a totally different Civilization from those I'm working with.
May I present you, the AZANDE!
Leader: Gbudwe (I couldn't find any earlier known Zande leader)
UA: Niam-Niam - Puppeted cities give you an unique Luxury Resource and ocasionally spawn the original owner's Unique Unit. This chance increases the closer that city is to a Zande founded city.
UU: Makrigga Warrior - Fully recover after killing an unit. Greater EXP when attacking, only 1 EXP when defending. Consumes 1 Gold each turn while you are at Peace. Replaces the Swordman.
UB: Tule's Oracle Groove - Replaces Castle. 33% Chance of an enemy attack fails against this city, but has no HP or Defense increase. Must have founded a Religion.
'Makrigga' is a very unique kind of spear a Zande warrior used. While it can be argued the Kpinga was more of a 'signature weapon' of this tribe, I find the Makrigga easier to be translated in the game and if I eventually get someone to make the unit models it will be easier as well.
While it is pretty obvious they should replace the Spearman, I believe this would lead to terrible unbalance, giving them an earlier edge bigger than the Zulu's, which would kind of steal their thunder. If Iron Working is still too early, I will have to replace the Pikeman, which will sadden me a bit.
The UB is based on a few religious beliefs of the Azande. Tule was a trickster deity, many times in the form of a hare it took on bigger opponents to show that the Azande - even though very big - should always fight with their wits over brute force. They also believed in Oracles who could see the future through divinations, usually in natural pools of water. What I find cool is that this makes this Civilization have a sub-focus on Faith, while not giving it any bonuses to Faith output; while this may backfire (much test needed!) it also makes them more prone to aggression if a neighbour Civ has Religion as its focus.
So, is anyone able to help me with the art for this wonderful african Civilization?
TIA!
