Assuming the UN charter is repealed, what atrocities, if any, do you commit?

I will often nerve staple a conquered base to shut them up until I get a rec commons/holo to please the masses.

In 'field' combat (non base strike) I use Nerve Gas regularly to fry invading forces, but I don't do so on bases. To much death involved. Same with obliteration; it just 'feels' wrong (yeah, I know. I'm a pacifist loser

My humanitarian whimpering displeases you all)

I only Planet Bust if someone else fires first (and gets knocked out by my defense satellites). The fungus always gets mad at me

So what does everyone else do?

I often nervestaple conquered bases(and my own), but don't use Nerve Gas, because I put another specials in my units(AAA tracking and Police/Empathic the most). When playing the hive, in wars against larger empires I usually destroy bases that may not be well-defended.
Finally, I use thermonuclear only against treacherous factions(and those who say "give me that or...").

If the other factions revoke the U.N. Charter, I become a man that even Yang fears. I do not think there is anything I do not do. I once killed the Spartans by only taking 2 bases and planet bustering 25 others. I will wipe a base rather that loose it. I will nerve gas a city that is full of troops. You name it I do it.

I try to keep the U.N. Charter. I don't like using atrocities (though I once used a planet buster, the results were amazing) even if it is just a game. Of course, my favortie faction is the Peacekeepers...

Being the peacemonger from Hades, I don't use atrocities, and I always vote against repealing the UN charter. Somehow, I feel that using atrocities is playing dirty; if I'm forced to fight, I can win without resorting to that. I once built a couple of planet busters because Dierdre was stocking up on them, but I never used them because everyone started ganging up on me. Now, when I see anyone building PB's, I mind probe the base, and take it. After a while, they get the message, and don't build them any more. Maybe I'd sing a different tune if someone unloaded a PB or some nerve gas on my troops and bases, but fortunately, I've never had this happen to me.

It's possible to destroy Planet Buster 'Silos' right? I've never bothered, but I saw the option once. I'm not sure about 'silos' either. Kind of like a launch site??

It's dumb how the AI votes in regards to the Charter. In 2230, Santiago proposes it (at war with almost everyone) Yang supports, Miriam supports, Zakarov Abstains, Deirdre says no, as does Lal. What do I do? Say no.

In 2252 or thereabouts, I proposed we revoke it, and EVERY SINGLE AI FACTION says NAY!! WTH????

When I'm at war with everyone, economic sanctions doesn't matter to me. And truces don't last very long. Then I Bust the most important enemy bases(the ones with SP), since my enemies aren't prone to give a Bust back to me(perhaps they don't want to be at wat with everyone?).

Sometimes, using Thermonuclear is necessary, at least, when you must fight against 6 allied armies!

I don't bother myself with the UN charters. If I am prepared to use atrocious means, I generally have engaged the AI factions - all of which have forged a global alliance against me. At that point, victory is assured.

If you plan on asserting belligerence from the start of the game, esp. on a small map, then sanctions shouldn't perturb you; after all, if you're at war with everyone, what is there to lose? In that instance, I implement "nerve gas pods" as soon as they are available, and I end up early on with "X Impact Squads", "X Impact Rovers", etc., and always use their ability except when poised to capture large cities. As the Believers, this 50% edge, in addition to their intrinsic 25% bonus, could compensate for falling behind in weapons technology.

But I hate the Believers. I play as either the Morganites, Spartans or University, and my advantage is time. I only expand to attain sole access to a continent, and afterwards placate. With resources directed emphatically towards research, defense, growth and careful expansion, towards the endgame I have large stores of "X Singularity Gravships" and "Singularity Planet Busters" while their defense, at any difficulty level, is restricted to "Photon Walls" and "Silk Steel". I employ genetic plague, nerve gas/stapling and planet busting as wantonly as I please.

"silos" is just a color word in the probe selection screen. the effect of the probe is to destroy a planet buster missle.

in one of my last games I used my probe teams to release a genetic plague in 3 or 4 cities belonging to the believers, and I also used a PB on Yang, at this time there were none sanctions lifted on atrocities, so naturally everyone delclared war on me..

I like to use atrocities, I once built a planet buster and accidently used it to ill a locust of Chiron right next to my capital! I won anyway, it kinda helped that I had made my faction a super faction....(Text file editing and Faction Editor.)

Despite me often playing the more militaristic and/or offensive factions ( namely The Hive, Spartans & Believers ) I seldom use atrocities. I tend to vote against Repealing the U.N charter unless I by some quirk of fate happen to be sitting on very many atrocious units which I know the enemy cannot resist.

Nerve Gas I very seldom use, *ESPECIALLY* not if the U.N charter is still in action, because unlike a Thermonuclear strike, Nerve Gas has to be used several times to be efficient, most often.

Nerve stapling is most likely the single atrocity I use the most, with or without the U.N charter in action. When a certain base is newly conquered or very vital to my plans I tend to Nerve staple it rather than turning several citizens into "entertainers" ( doctors, empaths, transcends or whatnot ). The reprimands are usually negligable and the effects certain.

Planetbusters I tend to stock up on, especially during the dangerous years between their first appearance and the time that I discover counter-measures to them. Save for the very few times I'm feeling quirky I tend to never do anything with the PB's except retaliate for nuclear strikes. But *WHEN* those sneaky bastards drop one on me first the vengeance tends to be horrendous to them.

Biological warfare against bases seems so unecessary to me 9 times out of 10, because I prefer conquest to ethnic mass-killings.

I still remember the first time I committed an atrocity in Alpha. It's a warm, amusing memory. I had started playing Alpha again for the second time in my life, this time with the intent to learn it and really enjoy the game, not just childishly running amok with large units as I had before. Thus in a Multiplayer game with a close friend I picked the Hive ( who better than Yang to mischievously wreak chemical, nuclear and biological terrors around him? ) and went to work on my "Terror troops", high-morale troopers with good weapons and armor, and of course, Nerve gas pods. I then launched an attack against the bumbling representative of the very U.N charter I despises, Brother Lal. After a long, bloody war ( he was certainly better prepared than I had suspected ) with only a few conquered cities to boast, many many deads soldiers and civilians, I decided to check out exactly what the "Economic sanctions" against me did. After realizing the extent of suffering it caused on my economy I went to check out how long it would last, deciding to discard further notions of chemical warfare for the time being...

'lo and behold..! I had some 400+ years of sanctions against me.

Needless to say I continued rampaging around with ever growing sanctions, I felt that I didn't quite wish to wait that long. And needless to say the other buggers in the council refused to Repeal the charter... Wimps!

I use them i never take a computer city under my wing i always burn the sukas to the ground i mean hell they whant a war ill give them one i hate the Political crap Un sanction my ass i dont cear as far as my followers are concerned there can only be one.:egypt:

May I ask what Faction youu play BlootThirst? This attaitude with the Morgans does not work well.:):)

Brother La

LOl yip Brother la eheheh thats what most shocking about it lol.

And yes Mr Morgon is always the first to go to war with me no matter what level i am playing

I remember buring my empire down so my brother wouldn't capture more of my citizens...he was appalled

on my latest game, just before i won with trancendance
i had 2017 years or so of economic sanctions to look forward to:D

Isn't it fun though to take DEMOLISH an enemy base - especially after they destroy one of your crack troops. I mean, if they just surrendered, it would be so much easier for them. Also, isn't it fun just to watch the devestation that the planet busters cause?:hammer:
