A strange blue light, sort of a cross of what an aurora borealis from an updated computer graphics enhanced version of Fantasia might look like on acid and the effervescent stars that always seem to accompany Tinkerbell ,emanates from my mighty warriors and legions. Is this meant to be? I realize that this has been done in order to highlight the troops, but the graphics were not so dysfunctional on Civ II or III as to make such a distraction necessary. Does anyone else find this a trifle disturbing? Can Rhye or Team Sevo or one of the other Wizards of Mod do something about this some day? I hope so.

Could it be possible that your unit is ready for a promotion?

That's the best description of anything I have read all day.

As has been said, your units have gained a promotion. Click on the promotion you want the unit to have, and the aurora on acid will go away.

Ah yes, experience. That is good! Thanks a lot.

Yeah, but it would still be nice to get rid of it. My upcoming space mod makes variants of spacecraft (different weapons, power plants etc...) and robots (better brains) using promotions, which will thus be adjusted to be more plentiful than the techs which allow the upgrades (so that as soon as you research the tech you can upgrade all your units to it). But this will mean lots of aurora all the time. I think. If a promotion has been earned, but there's no promotion there to be made, does anyone see the evanescent fog?

The "promotion aurora" does only show up if you have enough exp for the next treshold. For example the first threshold is 2 exp. As soon as your unit earns 2 or more exp you'll get that aurora, reminding you that you could promote that unite. Once you have done so, the aurora is gone, till the next time your unit hits a treshold.

If you give promotions to your units via script the "aurora" won't show up at all, because they didn't get exp and didn't hit a treshold.
