Auto-censor.

Just now i was trying to upload one of my avatars from my collection to the avatar help thread, but when i posted the picture it did not show as a picture but as a link, because the part with the file name was censored. What's wrong with saying A****aka, these days.

Why is "ni99a" censored? It's not a bad word. (replace the 9's with G's)

While 'nigger' may not be a bad word, it isn't exactly complementary. In fact, it's downright insulting. It's a racist word. Using that word is no different than using honky or cracker.

It's also a word that will get a reaction quicker than most. Really, the word goes against the site rules of vulgar, hateful, obscene, profane, defamatory, and abusive. Not really a word we want here.

On a related issue, we really don't like to be called 'Krauts'; for some odd reason, that one sounds insulting to German ears.
Still, don't care if it gets filtered or not, but I agree it would be nice if those terms from Civ are excluded form the filtre.

South Hemispheric International Treaty, or S.H.I.T.

I thought it was a good name, but, well, we could never type it without the periods, and that gets annoying. *sigh*

I have no problem with having this, but why does it automatically banned words that are swear words in their own when they are contained in a word that has no bad meaning too it. An example of this is what happened in the English Football thread No.2. We were talking about a certain team and yet because it contains a "swear" word, we see part of the word has been edited. What can be done to stop this from happening?

I can even tell you what the name of the team is back when I was still at school we were doing an English past Paper and there was a newspaper clipping on Firewalls and their advantages. There was a paragraph about how they automatically blocked such words as "Brazil nuts" and the teams name. Now I understood Brazil Nuts but the team name confused me profoundly, so I went up to the teacher and asked him why it was and he just pointed to it he then proceeded to tell the whole class officially my most embarassing moment at school and the day I left school he told me that was still his funniest moment in teaching.
