So I buy this wonderful game and play a tutorial and then go and look at all the trains in the main game in 1830 NE US scenario and decide to actually play and what do I get greeted with?

An Automobile factory that produces what looks like shiny PINTOS

in 1830

Not COOL

Here I am buying a Grasshopper and there in the next town over they are making internal combustion cars

Yeah... I noticed that too. Looks like some one in QA really screwed the pootch on that one. It was wierd, especially seeing as the diesel locos aren't even available in game.

I think they're trying to represent industrial production with the auto symbol. Also why all meat products is represented by cows, all grain by corn, etc.

Showing an icon of a car in 1830 is a bit out of context, but if you're willing to not take it too literally, then it fits.

No, it does not fit, if it is just "industrial" production them they can have a factory that makes "gears"

Why not symbolize "industrial production" with "warp drives" then?

This was done to simplifiy the economy. This way anything you build will always be viable for the whole breath of the scenario. There are no industries that appear and others that disapear. This in my opionion is disapointing! i do believe they did change in the original tycoon ( i dont relay remember). BUT the game does move VERY fast so it might be best. All in all the economic dificuly was greatly reduced. Still I like the game and at the speed it runs i LOVE to try this multi could be tons of fun.

Dont forget the skyscrapers in the 1800's and what looks like the sears tower in chicago, LOL.
"Nice game for the kids"
